Congratulations to former Kentucky Colonel, Graham Taylor. Graham got his first major league start on Sunday, April 26 vs. the world champion Phillies. Prior to being called up Graham was with the Marlin's AA affiliate, Jacksonville Suns, where he had a record of 2 wins, 1 loss and an ERA of 3.24.

Former Kentucky Colonel Evan McDole earned his third Player of the Year award of the 2009 season, this time from the American Baseball Coaches Association. The Northern Kentucky University junior was named to the ABCA’s All-Midwest Region first-team and the Midwest Region Player of the Year.
McDole was also named the Daktronics Midwest Region Player of the Year and the Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year. He led the team to a 41-22 record and its second consecutive GLVC championship.
McDole was a dominant defender at first base as well, finishing the season with a .990 fielding percentage to lead the NKU infield.
McDole is eligible for the ABCA All-American team, to be announced later this summer.
Evan was also named to the 2009 ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District baseball first team in the college division. The award is voted on by the College Sports Information Directors Association of America.
The college division is comprised of all NCAA Division II and III schools, as well as institutions competing in the NAIA and NJCAA.
McDole adds this award to his Great Lakes Valley Conference Player of the Year honor after leading the GLVC in home runs (15), runs scored (50) and total bases (127). McDole is also second in the league in slugging percentage (.706), RBIs (52), walks (37) and on-base percentage (.489). In the classroom, McDole maintains a 3.86 grade point average as an accounting major.

Congratulations to former Kentucky Colonel Chris Curley for being named named Player of the Year in the Mid South Conference. Curley, a junior third baseman at Campbellsville University finished the year with a .403 average, blasting 18 homeruns, while tallying up 64 RBI. Curley also had 13 doubles on the year and swiped ten bags.

Congratulations to former Kentucky Colonel Pat Muth for being selected to the Great Lakes Valley Conference third team. Muth, a sophomore at Northern Kentucky University is currently batting .280 with six home runs.

Congratulations to former Kentucky Colonel and Georgetown College senior Eric Severson for being named Mid-South Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the week ending April 18. The weekly award is Severson’s second of the season. Severson hit .500 (10-for-20) with four multiple hit games in the Tigers’ six games. The Edgewood, Ky., native, hit three home runs and drove in 14 runs while helping the Tigers to a 5-1 record on the week. Severson added eight runs, a pair of stolen bases and recorded a 1.150 slugging percentage on the week. On the season, Severson leads the MSC in doubles (18), third in RBIs (47) and fourth in both batting average (.423) and slugging percentage (.731).

Congratulations to former Kentucky Colonel, Paul Uhl on being named to the 2009 All-Presidents’ Athletic Conference (“PAC”) First Team. Paul, a freshman pitcher for the Thomas More College Saints, had a record of 5 wins with only 1 loss on the year. In 49 innings of work Paul recorded 37 strikeouts, 17 walks and had an ERA of 3.49.

Congratulations to former Kentucky Colonel, Ben Kuebbing, on being named to the first team of the All Heartland Conference. Kuebbing, a sophomore outfielder at Transylvania University batted .394 for the year with a .526 slugging percentage and a .973 fielding percentage. Ben also led the Pioneers in doubles (9) and RBIs (39).
