"What matters is not that you be the best, but that you try your best." -Author Unknown
Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is a process; working together is success!
It's the glimmer of hope when times are tough;
It's a bit more patience when we've had enough.
It's that thoughtful smile when one's desperately needed,
It's that extra push, a reason why we've succeeded.
This part of our personality which never fails to strive,
Is the creator of our goals and the source of our drive.
We are enthused about life, optimistic about what's to come,
Because the cheerleader inside looks for to life's fun.
It emerges as a friend to lend you a hand.
Where does this light come from, where does the ray start?
It shines in your mind, but ignites in your heart.
The confidence to try, the will to believe,
The acceptance of failure and the way to achieve.
It's very close by, its something we trust.
It's the fighter inside, it's the cheerleader within us.
Cheerleading is a way of life, shared by a chosen few;
It is working as a unit in everything you do.
Cheerleading is a rivalry, the competition makes you strong,
It is sharing secrets and tears, and learning to get along.
Cheerleading is that ongoing drive to be the very best;
It is patience, perseverance, and very little rest.
Cheerleading is having poise and charm with every word you say;
It is total dedication twenty-four hours a day.
It is always being ready with encouragement and a smile;
Cheerleading is your chance to express your individual style.
Cheerleading is reaching out to comfort a sister who is sad;
It is defending each other in good times and bad.
Cheerleading is a talent to be able to shine on cue;
It is hiding the pain and anguish that if only half the people knew.
Cheerleaders, after all, are real people that sometimes get down
but when they're in the spotlight, they must never put on a frown.
Cheerleaders are actresses always ready to go,
That is why it's important for all the world to know.
Not every girl can be a cheerleader, it takes a special kind.
“Rules were not meant to punish, but to promote dedication and excellence.”
“There is always room for improvement, you know - it's the biggest room in the house.”
“People acting together as a group can accomplish things which no individual acting alone could dream to bring about!”
“Athlete by nature, cheerleader by choice!”
“Just because we don't run across goal-lines, or slam-dunk basketballs, or hit home-runs...doesn't mean we can't CHANGE THE SCORE!”
“There are 2 kinds of people in this world: cheerleaders and those who wish they were!”
“Yes I'm a cheerleader, Yes I'm an athlete, Yes I'm a girl, gotta problem with that?”
“Cheerleading isn´t everything it´s the only thing!”
"Do not let what you CANNOT do interfere with what you CAN do."
YOU KNOW YOU'RE A CHEERLEADER WHEN:
You realize most pyramids aren't built in Egypt.
You know buckets, candlesticks, and blades are not made from metal.
You think Liberty has nothing to do with freedom.
You can build without a hammer and nails.
Your skirt is shorter than your t-shirt.
Your parents consider buying stock in sponge rollers.
All your friends are at dinner while you are at practice.
"Practice makes perfect isn't just a saying, it’s a way of life!"
Now I lay me down to sleep, a pom pom and megaphone at my feet.
Now I lay me down to rest,
I've tried my hardest and done my best
to tumble, jump, dance & cheer,
with the sharpest of motions and no trace of fear.
I know in the morning my body will ache
but, for what I love it's a price I gladly pay.
Thank you god for making me strong
with determination & commitment
when practices are long.
And Lord if I shall die before I wake,
I'll know I've shown the world,
cheerleaders were born, not made!!!
THE COMPETITION
The competition lasts but moments
Though the training's taken years
It wasn't the winning alone
That was worth the work and tears
The applause will be forgotten
The prize will be misplaced
But the long hard hours of practice
Will never be a waste
For in trying to win you build a skill
You learn that winning depends on will
You never grow by how much you win
You only grow by how much you put in
So any challenge you've just begun
Put forth your best effort
And you've already won.
Cheerleading Rules to Live By:
Sportsmanship starts and ends with the cheerleaders.
Cheer every game, as thou it were your last.
When all else fails, let your spirit shine through.
The difference between good and great is practice, practice, practice. There is no *I*in TEAMWORK.
Somewhere in the stands is a little girl who wants to be just like you...don't let her down.
It takes years to build character...and a second to destroy it.
The fans are looking to you, not at you.
Mom doesn't know where your uniform is because she didn't wear it last.
Democracy ends at the coach's door.
Coaches guide, and you, Keep the *leader* in cheerleader.

We are the team
a team of one!!
We work together, we are ONE
We compete together as ONE
We win and lose together as ONE
We're only strong
If we stick together
We're a powerful team
If we believe in one another
We can only achieve our goals
If we work hard together as ONE
We're not just a cheer team
We're friends to one another
When one of us is hurt, or down
We pick each other up, no frown!
When we step out on that floor today
Lets show our best and unity to the crowd
Because not everyone can be like us
One for all and all for all, Cheer proud!!! Cheer loud!! Stick It!!!
Courteous and helpful to all- on and off the court.
Happy and cheerful, why? Because that is what we do!
Everybody's friend.
Everybody's crutch.
Ready to cheer, because we love it!
Leader to everybody- even off the court.
Extremely exhilarated!
Always ready to take charge, and give confidence.
Demand to be noticed, because we notice you.
Exactly what your looking for when you need a boost.
Rah! Rah! Go team, future of America!
THE CHAMPION WITHIN
Champions are made when you believe in the possibility of the perfect team.
When you believe in the flyer even though she’s fallen before.
When you believe in the base even though she’s faltered before.
When you believe in the tumblers even though they’ve stumbled before.
When you believe in the back tucks even though they’ve crashed before.
When you believe in the routine even though it’s fallen short before.
When you believe in the girl beside you and yourself even though you’ve failed before.
Believing in each other and yourself reveals the Champion within.
The time has come once again
to show what we can do,
to work together as a team,
not just as one or two.
Together we can do anything that our hearts desire.
You know we have done it even though we are tired.
So let's look to one another for comfort and cheer.
Let's lean on one another as we cry our tears.
Because together we have a goal that we all have set.
And that's to be the best team the crowd has seen yet
So let's go out on that floor as a winning team.
Let's do what we do best and make that crowd scream.
Because together we can do it.
Together we can.
Together we can be the best team in the land.
As the day of our competition nears,
remember the smiles and forget the tears.
Remember the times we've spent together,
cherish them now and forever. Next year it will not be the same.
Some girls lost, some girls gained.
doing the routine one more time,
to fix that motion and straighten that line.
We've had many falls and lots of tough breaks,
we took our chances and knew the stakes.
We are all exhausted and ready to rest,
but first we must show the world who is best.
Regardless of what the judges criticize,
they were never there to realize,
we sweated, we ached, and we worked all the while,
and hid all the pain with a convincing smile.
So show them now what we have worked for.
Give little extra where there needs to be more.
Smile and know that we've finished the race,
regardless of what we win or place.
THE COMPETITOR'S CREED
The contest lasts for moments
though the training's taken years.
It wasn't the winning alone
that was worth the work and tears.
The applause will be forgotten,
the prize misplaced.
But the long, hard hours of practice
will never be a waste!
For in trying to win you build a skill;
You learn that winning depends on will.
You never grow by how much you win,
You only grow by how much you put in.
So in any new challenge you've just begun,
Put forth your best and you've already won!
“In other sports~when you miss the catch~all you lose is the ball”
“If you want to compete, practice. If you want to win, practice harder.”
“Discipline is remembering what you want.”
“You learn you can do your best even when its hard, even when you're tired and maybe hurting a little bit. It feels good to show some courage.”
-Joe Namath
“Being a winner is more than getting a first place trophy; it is acting like the effort was an honor and the trophy is just a decoration.”
-Bryan Moseley
“The only thing better than winning is losing knowing you gave your best.”
