Long Island Cannons Mission Statement
To promote a safe and positive playing environment for all participants while continuing to focus on skill development and enjoyment of the sport.
Many times we get caught up in what has become an endeavor (baseball) - one at which there should be advancement and improvement much the same as one would expect in a job or in school. It's no longer a "game" (for some parents and grandparents) and we think that the "play" should somehow advance. Baseball is very much a game and one "plays" it as a "game". Might there be improvement - naturally. As one "plays" more, they naturally get more proficient and the "game" may become more "fun". If a player is having "fun", he will want to "play" the "game" more - to have more "fun".
"So whether you play baseball just for fun, or if you aspire to play at higher levels, we think you will find this team helpful. It does have strong intentions about improving your game, but it will also improve your understanding of your participation in youth sports in general and baseball in particular. We believe it will inspire you to be a better player and a better person. We will try to help you play the game better, but we will help you live the game better."
