The Lakewood Ranch Lacrosse Club was formed in 2004. With only a handful of players including girls playing the boys game, we managed to field a team. As the word spread, we increased the number of teams to include Varsity, JV, Middle and Youth teams.
The WFLL was officially formed in 2004 to support youth lacrosse in the Tampa Bay area. Local youth lacrosse was born as early as 2001 when area youth programs began forming in Brandon, Clearwater, South Tampa, and Wesley Chapel. From 2001 to 2005 the number of youth lacrosse players in the Tampa Bay area has grown from 100 to 1000. The league has grown from five programs in 2003, twelve in 2005 to 19 in 2008!
