Officiating Q & A
How old do I have to be to referee? Anyone male or female, aged 15 years or older can referee. Being too old should not be a deterrent to when you start officiating. There are people who have started in their 50s and were disappointed at not starting at an earlier age.
I don’t know anything about football, is that a problem? Absolutely not. Even though some basic knowledge of the game is suggested, it is not necessary. All that is asked of you is a willingness to learn. Everyone goes through a one day training session to learn all the basics you need to start officiating.
When are games played? Most games are played on Saturday and Sunday mornings and early afternoons.
What if I can’t officiate all the time? No problem. When making the schedule the assignor caters to you. Just let him know in advance when you aren’t available.
How much do I get paid for a game? 35-42$ a game depending on the level. Games usually last about 1hr45min-2hr30min. Both depend on the level game you are doing.
Can anyone officiate for LSLNFOA? Unfortunately if you don’t live in L.S.L.N’s zone you aren’t eligible to referee for us. If you aren't sure what zone you are in please contact us.
When does the season start? It starts in early-mid August and games can go as far as mid November.
