IMPORTANT SAFETY ALERT! ~ PLEASE READ!
The Town Of Miami Lakes in cooperation with The Optimist Club of Miami Lakes are urging parents to accompany their child(ren) on the park as well as to the public restrooms. Many parents are dropping off their children to participate in youth sports practices and games feeling comfortable that the league officials and coaches will teach them how to play the sport, be it football, basketball, softball or baseball. When a child has to leave the practice or play area however the parent needs to be present to provide guidance and instruction and to assist in the child's well being. We thank you for your cooperation!

The rule is to try and make up all rainouts in the week that they are scheduled. You must check the site for reschedules once you have a rainout. Once scheduled, any changes have to go thru your league President. Thank you.
NOTE: Rained out games have been rescheduled for this Sunday! Please check your revised schedules carefully!
|
|
NOTE TO MANAGERS, UMPIRES AND SCOREKEEPERS!!!
When a team is schedule to play an opponent an ODD number of games the home team is determined by a coin toss on the final game of Regular Season Play. This can be done prior to the game between the managers with or without an umpire present.
Every team schedule is listed on the website. Due to the formatting of the program it does not allow for asterisks* or comments. Therefore the home/away schedule during the ODD round is not valid and must be determined by a coin toss.
NOTE: In the Playoffs, Home team is determined by position. The team seeded highest is home team. In the Championship Series Home team alternates in the first two games and a coin toss is used in game 3 if necessary.

"MUST-SLIDE" RULE !!!
The "must slide" rule is a league rule adopted by the Optimist Club of Miami Lakes to: encourage sliding at home plate to avoid "COLLIDING" with an opposing player. The rule states that a player "must slide, to avoid contact". The penalty if there is "contact": runner is out. NOTE: THE RUNNER IS OUT EVEN IF THE CATCHER DROPS THE BALL IF THERE IS CONTACT AND THE RUNNER DOES NOT SLIDE. In addition, if there is flagrant contact the umpire can eject the player for unsportsmanlike conduct. If there is no contact, there is no penalty.

Policy and Rules Update
Please Note:
Mustang Division Managers and Players; effective today 4/3/06 the balk rule will be enforced thru the remainder of the season. This is still a judgement call and not open for protest. Also, the 10 ft line off third base is the option adopted per pony baseball and applies in all situations including bases loaded, two outs ~ the runner must not advance until the ball crosses the plate.
ALL DIVISION MANAGERS AND COACHES: It is required that I.D.'s be worn when on the park for practices and/or games. The umpires will report all non-compliance and issue a warning thru Friday 4/7/06. Beginning Saturday 4/08/06 all coaches in non compliance will not be permitted on the field. If you need an I.D. contact the Park Office at 305-558-0382 and you can make an appt.

STAYING ORGANIZED!
March 9, 2005 --
CONGRATULATIONS! To all those who attended the Coaches Certification Class! As you know the certification program just introduces you to the coaching experience. For those of you coaching for the first time you will most likely have questions throughout the season! Please take advantage of the opportunities offered from time to time when we invite guest speakers and coaches to provide tips to the various aspects of the game. Also, check this Web Site often as we will place announcements and even review plays that might have happened in one of your games! Most importantly however, have fun!
To help you stay organized please check the COACHES CORNER and the COACHES CHECKLIST. There are handouts available as well as all of the baseball local league rules posted in the HANDOUT section.
You should have contacted your players parents and solicited a few volunteers to help with phone calls, practices, a sponsor, etc...
GOOD LUCK!
