NBC for Helena, Great Falls, Havre and Lewistown. In Helena KTVH is celebrating 50 years of broadcasting. Helena's television station, KXLJ, went on the air in 1958 as part of the "XL network which included stations in Bute, Bozeman and Spokane. Bob Mangus who later started the TCI cable dynasty was the next owner of Helena's station KBLL Radio and TV. Former Governor Tim Babcock changed the call letters in 1969 to KTCM. Ten years later the station was sold to Lynn Koch who changed the call letters again to KTVG in 1980. Long time Montana broadcast pioneer Don Baradley purchased the station in 1985 and changed the call letters to KTVH and they have remained to this day. John Raddeck's Big Sky Broadcasting purchased the station in 1987 and broaght the station from near bankrupcy to a respected broadcast facility. By 1997 Sunbelt Communications Company in Las Vegas, NV had purchased the station. The later added stations in Havre and Lewistown. Then finally added a forth station in Great Falls and introduced the four communities to a new name for this Montana network. Named after Beartooth Mountain (the nose of the sleeping giant) Beartooth NBC was born.
