2009 Walnut Creek Classic Tournament Bracket

The Walnut Creek Holiday Classic is an Annual Women's Basketball Tournament run by the Northgate Women's Basketball Program the 2nd or 3rd week of December. The 13th Annual Walnut Creek Holiday Classic will take place on Thursday, Friday & Saturday December 17th-19th 2009.

All proceeds from the tournament go directly to the Northgate Women's Basketball Program. The Walnut Creek Classic has developed into one of the most premier Women's Basketball Tournaments in the Bay Area. Most of the tournament entries all constant Section Qualifiers. The tournament orginated as a 16 team tournament but now features a more compeitive 8 team field.

2007 Champions - Northgate Broncos

2007 Champions

For the 3rd straight year the Northgate Broncos claimed the Walnut Creek Holiday Classic Tournament Championship. This year was much more difficult than 2006 when the Broncos won in the Finals over Las Lomas by 31 points. After beating Ygnacio Valley Wednesday night the Broncos came out and shocked the Lions of Linden in the first quarter by scoring 22 points and allowing only 1. However, the rest of the game was played tight and Northgate held on for the win by 18. The Championship game was a great contest between to excellent teams. Northgate led most of the way never by more than 6. Hercules battled back to cut the lead to 1 midway through the 4th. In the end the Broncos drained 20-24 free throws to claim the Championship.

2006 Champions

The 10th Annual Walnut Creek Classic was the year of the upsets. Moreau Catholic a pre-season favorite lost in the opening round to Hercules. After their upset or Moreau Hercules proceeded to lose to Novato who in turn was knocked off by co-host Las Lomas. And that was just on one side of the bracket. Northgate cruised through their side of the bracket after Livermore upset Clayton Valley.

Northgate won big over Las Lomas in the Championship. The game was never in doubt. Kelly Peterson and Courtney Hamilton of Northgate were selected to the All Tournament team while Jessica Trautner and Haley Dahlgard were the tournaments Most Valuable Players.

The 10th Annual WCC would mark the final season Las Lomas and Northgate would co-host the tournament. Northgate would assume control over the Walnut Creek Holiday Classic.

2005 Champions

The Windsor Jaguars would emerge to play Northgate in the Championship Game. Northgate survived a huge scare from Hercules in the quarterfinals and played a great game in the finals to beat Windsor by double digits.
