Coaches Privileges and Selection Process
All Coaches returning to coach in the same age group, Assistant Coaches wishing to become Coaches this season in the same age group or Coaches forced to move up because their child’s birthday causes them to move up will be allowed to hold 3 players only with the Parents/Guardians’ prior consent in the following order:
a. Coach’s Child, Assistants Coach’s child and Sponsor’s child. (Note: If there is no Sponsor’s child then the Coach can select another child in the age group.)
b. If the Assistant Coach has no child then the Coach can select any child(in the age group) and the Sponsor’s child
c. If the Assistant Coach has no child and there is no Sponsor’s child then the Coach can select any 2 children (in the age group) in addition to holding his/her child.
d. If the Coach and Assistant don’t have any children then the Coach can select any 2 children and the Sponsor’s child.
All new coaches with or without a child will be allowed to hold 3 players as described above.
All New Coaches, Returning Coaches, and Returning Assistant Coaches wishing to coach their child or children in an age group higher will only be allowed to hold their child since there will be no guarantee he or she will have a team.
Coaches will be selected for a position as follows:
1. Returning coaches coming back to the same age group get to hold 3 players as described above and before coaches in the categories below. All children held should be of appropriate age.
2. Returning Assistant Coaches, coming back to the same age group, and wishing to become Coach get to hold 3 players as described above before coaches in the categories below.
3. Returning Coaches with children moving up because their child’s birthday pushes them up will get to hold 3 players as described above before coaches in the categories below. All children held should be of appropriate age.
4. Returning Assistant Coaches wishing to become Coach with children moving up because their child’s birthday pushes them up will get to hold 3 players as described above before coaches in the categories below. All children held should be of appropriate age.
5. New coaches with children in the appropriate age group will have a chance to coach before coaches in the categories below.
6. New coaches without children will have a chance to coach before coaches in the categories below.
7. Returning coaches wishing to coach their child or children at a higher age group will have to:
a. Wait if there is an opening for the child/children. The child/children moving up will be placed on a waiting list and will only be allowed to move up if there is a spot (see Players’ Privileges’) . Date and time of registration should be annotated to make sure children wishing to move up are slotted based on first come first serve within the age group they wish to move up.
b. Risk not having a coaching spot in the age group they would have because we must assign coaches before we can address assigning those children on a waiting list to move up. (Reason: It would not be fair to block someone from getting a position while the coach waits to play at a higher position.)
c. Be informed they will not be able to hold children of the age group they wish to move up to since we won’t know if there will be space for his or her child/children to move up. (Reason: In fairness to the other coaches, we must assign all the children that are eligible to play with coaches in the higher categories first.)
d. Inform the parents of those children he or she will not be able to hold their child/children because of item c.
e. Know that we will also attempt to inform the parents in a timely manner (upon registration or as soon as we identify the situation).
8. Returning Assistant Coaches wishing to coach their child or children at a higher age group will follow the same criteria outlined in item 7.
9. New Coaches wishing to coach their child in a higher age group higher will follow the same criteria outlined in item 7.
