PLACEMENT OF TEAM PARTICIPANTS
Placement of participants on a cheerleading roster is based using specific Pop Warner guidelines. Once the registration process has been completed, participants will be assigned to a team. However, all rosters are considered “preliminary” until the registration process closes in late August. In cases that involve multiple teams in a division, placement will be at the discretion of league officials. NOTE: Prior year team placement does not guarantee placement on a specific team for the upcoming season
ATTENDANCE
Commitment is one of the most important things the league promotes. Commitment to the team means participating at every practice, every game, and every competition. Be advised that commitment to this program could run well into December depending on the outcome of each competition. A participant missing from practices or games affects the entire team and is unfair to everyone. Attendance will be monitored throughout the season. Dismissal from a team could occur if it is determined that excessive absences are impacting the progress of the entire team. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN. Teams cannot have an effective practice or game with absent participants. While we understand that some families must schedule vacations during the month of August, the organization's priority is to have the well being of the entire team as its main focus. All teams are required by Pop Warner to cheer at all football games regardless of weather, to include postseason play. Bottom Line: If the football team plays, we cheer. Of course, in the case of serious illness, considerations will be made.
CARE OF UNIFORMS
Uniforms are the property of South County Pop Warner and are not to be worn and used outside of League sponsored functions (i.e., Halloween, school, etc.). Cheerleaders must be extremely careful when eating and drinking while in uniform. An oversized shirt must be brought to games and functions to be worn over the uniform during breaks. Participants must change out of their uniform if they are staying at the field after their game. No colored drinks, mustard, ketchup, etc., as the uniform stains easily. Drinks should be water or clear soda only.
You are responsible for keeping uniforms clean and in good condition. Uniforms are to be hand or machine-washed on the gentle cycle. Hang dry – DO NOT PUT IN DRYER, and DO NOT IRON uniforms. This material tends to burn and melt easily. No alterations are allowed.
Uniforms will be returned to SCPW at the end of the season at a time designated by the cheer coordinator. Please be sure that the uniform has been washed prior to returning. Uniforms not returned or returned damaged will be the financial responsibility of the participant’s parent or guardian. The replacement cost for a lost or damaged uniform is $175.00 Failure to meet this responsibility will result in participant being ineligible for roster to a team in the future until said obligation is met.
CONDUCT AND SPORTSMANSHIP
Fighting, intimidation, use of illegal substances (including cigarettes by minors), or disrespect for authority by any cheerleader or parent during practices, games or any other Pop Warner function will not be tolerated. Any activity of this kind could result in suspension or termination from the Pop Warner program. NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
You must remember that your child is on a team representing South County Pop Warner. Cheerleaders and parents should always conduct themselves in a proper manner and display good sportsmanship and manners to the organization, team members, and opposing teams.
Practice Attire
ALL cheerleaders must come to practice wearing shorts, t-shirt, socks and sneakers with lace ties, no slip on. Sneakers must be appropriate for tumbling and stunting. DO NOT WEAR YOUR NEWLY PURCHASED SNEAKERS. Hair must be pulled up and off of your face. No jewelry, including earrings or silly band, should be worn.
