Important Information for the 2009 Season
Dear Parents:
Thank You for allowing us to spend time with your children. We are excited about the upcoming season and appreciate your participation in our program. Pop Warner football has been around since 1929, with over 360,000 young people in 41 States and several Countries around the world participating. Those numbers are continuing to grow. Children who participate in the football program compete with children of similar age and size. Pop Warner is the only football program that sets and enforces a strict age and weight matrix that reduces the risk and reality of injuries.
The Union Road Optimist Strives to use football and Cheerleading and a respect for education to build responsible and healthy children. We give them experiences that build on leadership, teamwork and discipline. The Football and Cheerleading teams in our program are recognized as just that, TEAMS. While individual accomplishments are certainly recognized, our focus is the athletic and educational accomplishments of the TEAM, Not the individual.
We will be soliciting the precipitation of parents for the upcoming season. There will be many opportunities available for your time in volunteering. Please know that your assistance will be vital to the program. We are excited and eager to make this another great year. It will be your dedication and support that will make our program successful for our children. Please consider possible avenues in which you may support our program. A list of services needed will be provided as the season progresses.
A few things to keep in mind for the 2009 season... The parking lot directly in front of the clubhouse is strictly for coaches and volunteers. If parents park in this area, it causes many problems. The gate area must be clear as an ambulance entrance if be needed. You may park across the street at the church or on the side of the road next to the library. Not in the library parking lot. As the season progresses the time changes and it gets dark very early. Please use caution, to cross the road with your child.
We are requesting that this year parents or, a designated person remain at practices and games. Many times in the past children have been left at the practice field for one or more hours after practice or after a game has finished. This is for the safety of the child, and also that our coaches and volunteers who unselfishly give so much of their time need to be able to go home to their families.
No Smoking in the field area.
