**=New for 2009 season.
Equipment
1.00: The basic balls are the Wiffle ball brand base ball or soft balls, and the Stee-rike 3 baseballs. All other balls must be approved by the commissioner.
1.01: The bat must either be metal or wood. Plastic bats are also acceptable.
1.02: Almost any type of footwear will be allowed. The only types of footwear that are not allowed will be socks.
1.03: Baseball gloves will not be allowed. Batting gloves will be allowed, but that is the batter’s decision.
1.04: **All available players must hep pick up the wiffle balls after a game. No exceptions**
1.05: **Balls may not be thrown up and hit over the fence during, before, or after a game. A violation of this rule will be an automatic out for that player during their next at bat, plus they must retrieve the ball**
1.06: **Starting Jan. 1st, 2010 all male players at or above the 11th grade must use a plastic bat. Any violation will result in an out.**
1.07: **Wiffle balls beyond repair shall not be defiled. They shall be thrown into the creek in a matter of respect.**
Teams
2.00: The team must consist of two or three players per side to be considered an official game. If not enough players, it will be considered an exhibition game
2.01: A team must choose their batting order at the start of the game and must have it continually the same until the game’s conclusion. Changing the batting order during the game will not be allowed.additional information The only exception is if another player joins the team.
Basic Game play
3.00: A complete game must have both teams bat at least once, and there must be a score. If not then it will not be ruled a complete game.
3.01: Three outs per inning for each team.
3.02: Three strikes to an out, and fouls are unlimited. Strikes must only be swinging. **Strikes will also be called if they hit the strike zone behind home plate on the first two strikes. The third strike will not be called in this manner.** There are no balls.
3.03: Base runners are playing, if not enough base runners for men on base, then the base runner(s) moves up to the runner nearest to score, and all other runners are ghost runners.
3.04: No infield fly rule will be called.
3.05: Bunting is legal, but strongly discouraged.
Hitting
4.00: All batted balls must reach the fair play line to be playable; otherwise it is a foul ball.
4.01: A ball that goes under the lattice work is a ground rule double, no exceptions.
4.02: There are no errors, all times on base are ruled as hits.
4.03: A ball that bounces beyond the imaginary pool line in right center is a home run. This line is from the eastern end of the pool to the left field fence.
4.04: Any ball that is hit over the right field fence at an angle, but not into the fenced in pool-area is a playable ball. Rule 4.03 still applies.
4.05: A ball that is hit off the tree is playable, as long as the area it hits is in fair territory.
4.06: A fly ball clearing the fence will be ruled a home run.
4.07: Any ball that happens to bounce over or go through the fence will be ruled a ground-rule double.
4.08: A fly ball hitting the foul pole above the fence will be ruled a home run. The ball landing in the lower-pool area is a home run.
4.09: **A ball hitting the 3x sign on the left field foul line or the 2x sign on the tree beyond the left field fence will act as a multiplier of the home run. How many runs score, the runs will be multiplied by 3x or 2x respectively.**
4.10: Outs are recorded by the following, force outs, pegging runners below the neck, strike outs.
4.11: A fly ball hitting the top of the fence and continuing over the wall will be ruled a home run.
4.12: ghost runners advance the same amount as the batter.
The Batter
5.00: The batter may switch sides at any time in the count. The batter may not switch sides during the delivery of a pitch, if so, the pitch will be ruled a strike.
5.01: There is no hit batsman rule. A ball that hits the batter will be ruled a no pitch and no base will be awarded.
5.02: The hands of the batter are considered part of the bat. A ball hitting the batter’s hand(s) and landing in foul territory is ONLY a strike if the batter is in the act if swinging, if not the pitch is ruled a ball. If a ball hits a batter’s hand(s) and lands into fair territory, the ball will be ruled a fair ball.
5.05: Batting gloves may be worn by the batter only when batting, they are not to be used on the field.
Pitching
6.00: There are no balks
6.01: A pitcher does not have to start his wind-up from the pitching rubber. The pitcher must have at least one foot touching the rubber when he releases the ball. If a ball is pitched in violation of this rule, the pitch will be ruled a no pitch.
6.02: There is not a limit on pitch speed. A pitcher may pitch as fast as he/she pleases.
6.03: After a pitcher leaves again, they ARE allowed to reenter a game.
6.04: **Every pitcher entering the game must face at least one batter before he/she can be substituted out. This does not apply in certain situations.**
The Fielder
7.00: fielder(s) may not line up in any manner that may, in any way, distract the batter. This rule does not mean that there can’t be any chatter, chatter is allowed.
7.01: **During games, wiffle balls in fair territory must be kept in bucket(s) in order to avoid confusion. This is the fielding team's job.**
7.02: **Of there is any legitimate confusion on the correct ball due to wiffle balls on the field, the runner will be declared safe.**
The Playing Field/Other rules
8.00: A semi-level surface must be used for the field.
8.01: Fences must be within reasonable distance.
8.02: The pitcher will throw from a distance of 15 paces from home plate
8.03: The playing field area will be kept clear of all foreign objects.
8.04: ground rules will be discussed to all teams prior to the start of each game or before the beginning of a game.
8.05: **The field shall not be beat or defiled. The only damage to the field shall be due to natural wear. (Luke that means you!)**
Miscellaneous
9.00: **Nothing shall be hit with the bat within 10 feet of the batters box. This is for safty reasons so no cars will be struck.**
9.01: **Any solid object that does not have holes in it shall not be hit with the bat. (i.e. Rock, golf balls, tennis balls, baseballs, etc.) Solid is defined by which will not break when hit. Rule 9.00 still applies.**
