World Series Tournaments:
12U (w/70 foot base paths) (Aberdeen, MD):
(Note:  No teams from Maine, Vermont or Rhode Island entered this division in 2012)

  Winner (World Champion (& International Champ)): Japan (International Invitational Team) (5-0, ?-0, 1-0)

Summary: Japan won its second straight Cal Ripken Major/70 World Series, beating Maryland state champion Upper Montgomery County, 17-7, in a full six-inning game at Cal Sr.'s Yard, where its permanent seats were filled to capacity from behind the plate and down both baselines.

  Runner-up (USA Champion): Upper Montgomery County, Maryland  (Maryland State Champion) (3-1, ?-0, 0-1)

Note: This is the first time in 10-year history in Aberdeen that a Maryland team has played for the United States Championship in the Cal Ripken World Series.

  New England Team:  Newton  “Thunder”, CT (1-3, Pool Play only?)

 

12U (w/60 foot base paths) (Winchester, MA):
  Winner:  Visalia, California (Pacific Southwest Regional Champion) (3-1, 3-0) (Won Championship Game 21-0)

  Runner-up:  Burlington, MA (New England Regional Champion) (3-1, 1-1)

  New England Team:  Raynham, MA (Eastern Massachusetts State Champion) (2-2, Pool Play only)

  New England Team:  Winchester, MA (Host Team) (1-3, Pool Play only)

11U: No World Series for this age bracket

10U (Bentonville, AR):

  Winner:  Northwest Bakersfield, California (Pacific Southwest Regional Champion) (?-0, 2-0) (Won Championship Game 10-5)

Note: On their way to the championship, NW Bakersfield also defeated Springdale, Arkansas, Crown Point, Indiana and Danbury, Connecticut and totaled 58 runs in their six games.

  Runner-up:  Willamette Valley, Oregon (Pacific Northwest Regional Champion) (?-0, 1-1)

  New England Team:  Danbury, CT (?-?, 0-1)

9U: No World Series for this age bracket

11U & 9U State Tournaments Begin

The State Tournaments begin today for the 11U and 9U Teams.

Today's Games:
9:00 AM - Messalonskee 9U vs. Andy Valley East 9U in Berwick (Field 3)
Noon - Skowhegan 9U vs. Andy Valley East 9U in Berwick (Field 1)

Messalonskee 12U Team Wins District 5 Tourney

Congratulations to the Messalonskee 12 & Under All-Star Team who won the District 5 Tournament on Friday night in Skowhegan with a 6-5 win over Fairfield. The team overcame a 9-5 defeat against Fairfield the previous night which forced one more deciding game. (You can find all Game Results in the ‘Main Menu’ to the left).
Good luck to the Messalonskee team as they move on to the State Tournament starting on July 7th at Riverside Fields in Cornish (Off Route 25)
More info will follow on all the State Tournaments including the 11U & 9U Teams who start the week after the 12 & 10’s

Skowhegan 10U Team Wins District 5 Tourney

Congratulations to the Skowhegan 10 & Under All-Star Team who won the District 5 Tournament on Thursday night in Waterville with a 9-0 win over Belfast. The team went undefeated through the tournament and outscored opponents 43-0 along the way. (You can find all Game Results in the ‘Main Menu’ to the left).
Good luck to the Skowhegan team as they move on to the State Tournament starting on July 7th in Harrison (RADR Complex “Field of Dreams”)

District 10U Tournament Set to Begin...

The 10U District Tournament begins tonight in Waterville. Good luck to all teams.

The first All-Star Tournaments of the 2012 season will begin this week with the District Level Tournaments. District 5 Tourneys (12U & 10U) begin on Wednesday, June 20th, and will be hosted this year by Waterville (10U) & Skowhegan (12U).
(Note: Location of 12U Tournament changed from "Mini-Fenway" in Oakland)
