2016 17U RULES

 

2016 Cane Creek Softball Rules - Age 17U Division

 

Amendments to NSA Rulebook

 

 

 

  Game will be 6 innings or a time limit of 1 hour 30 minutes.

 

  In the regular season, if game is tied at the end of regulation, then the “International Rule” will apply. The last batter from the last inning on each team will begin the extra inning on 2nd base as game continues. During the regular season, there will be a limit of 2 extra innings - after which game will be called a “Tie” if game is still tied at that point. During tournament, play will continue with the International Rule until a winner is declared.

 

  Teams must have a minimum of 7 players at all times during the game to avoid forfeit.  If a team starts with 8 players, the 9th spot will be an “out” penalty. If a team starts with 7 players, the 8th and 9th spots will be an “out”.  There is no penalty for the 10th spot.  If a team starts with 9 players, the 10th spot will not be an “out” penalty. 

 

  If a player arrives late to the game, that player must be added to the bottom of the batting order

 

  All players will bat.

 

  There will be a limit of 1 homerun “out of the park/over the fence” per player per game.  Additional homeruns “out of the park/over the fence” by the same player will result in a double - with base runners advancing 2 bases.

 

   Players must be rotated into game every other inning. No player shall sit out 2 consecutive innings.

 

   There will be infield fly rule.

 

   Maximum of 1 Intentional Walk per player per game.

 

   Defense must stay behind the 1st & 3rd baseline hash marks until ball is hit.

  

   The last pitch may be fouled until hit, missed, or no swing.

 

   A foul tip caught by the catcher will be considered “out” if the ball reaches a height over the batter’s head, at umpire’s discretion.

Amendments to NSA Rulebook

   Pitching Rules:  Pitching distance is 46ft, and arch is 6ft.  When player is pitching, there will be a maximum of 3 walks per half inning. After 3rd walk, the coach of the hitting team will pitch the remainder of that half inning.  The coach will be allowed a maximum of 5 pitches per batter. The last pitch may be fouled until hit, missed, or no swing. When coach is pitching, the player/pitcher will stand with 1 foot in the circle. The coach must have 1 foot in the circle while pitching. The arch applies to coaches who pitch also. If coach pitches below the minimum 6ft arch, the umpire shall call “illegal pitch” , and it will be counted as one of the 5 pitches allowed per batter. Player will begin pitching again the next inning.

 

   The player/pitcher must wear a face guard, and it is strongly suggested that she also wear shin guards.

  Teams may play with a minimum of 7 players with no “penalty outs“. Players may enter game late or leave game early with no penalty.  If a player arrives late to the game, that player must be added to the bottom of the batting order.

 

   When chalk lines are present, defense must play behind the hash marks on 1st  &  3rd  baselines until the ball is hit.  With the arc line in front of the plate, the ball must go past this line to be considered a fair ball in play.

 

   All players will bat.

 

   Maximum of 10 players on defense.

 

   Batter will be allowed a maximum of 6 pitches.  The last pitch may be fouled until hit, missed, or no swing.

 

   A foul tip caught by the catcher will be considered out if the ball reaches a height over the batter’s head, at umpire’s discretion.

 

   Players must be rotated into game every other inning.  No player shall sit out 2 consecutive innings.

 

   Coach-Pitcher shall pitch the ball at a slow speed with an arch equal to the height of the batter.

 

   Coach-Pitchers shall stand with one foot inside circle. Pitching rubber is 35ft with 8ft circle around. If a ball hit by the batter hits the coach-pitcher, it is considered a dead ball and therefore no pitch.

 

   Player in pitcher position MUST wear a helmet with a faceguard or a faceguard. It is strongly suggested that this player also wear shin guards.

 

  Player in pitcher position must have 1 foot in the circle at pitcher’s mound.

 

  There will be a limit of 2 bases on an overthrow at umpire’s discretion.

 

  To stop the play, time will be called when the ball is held in possession inside the baselines, at umpire’s discretion

 

  A defensive coach may be on the field with his/her team behind 2B in the grass.

2016 CBSA Cane Creek Park Rules - All Divisions

 
  

All coaches, players, parents, and spectators are expected to abide by the “Zero Tolerance” policy.

 

      If a parent or spectator is not abiding by the “Zero Tolerance” policy, then the umpire will instruct the head coach to give a warning to that parent or spectator.  If that same parent or spectator continues with this behavior, then the umpire will instruct the head coach to ask that parent or spectator to leave the park property immediately.  Failure by this person to leave the park property within 3 minutes will result in a forfeit by the team associated with this person.  (This rule applies to all players and coaches as well.)

 

       Umpires will communicate only with the head coach during the game regarding questions or situations that occur.

 

      Orange/White 1st Base - In a routine play at 1st base, the runner must touch the orange/outside base, unless the runner is trying to avoid a collision if a wild throw occurs.  If the runner touches the white/inside base on a routine play at 1st, the runner is out.  If the runner touches any part of the orange/outside base, that runner is considered to have touched the bag legally.  The fielder must use the white/inside base unless, in the opinion of the umpire, the fielder is trying to avoid a collision if a wild throw occurs. The runner may touch the white/inside base in a continuation or possible continuation toward 2nd base.  The white/inside base will be used by the runner if attempting to get back to 1st base.  This rule is subject to umpire discretion.

 

      Maximum runs to be scored per half inning will be 7 runs.  The run rule will be 15 runs after 4 innings of play or 8 runs after 5 innings of play.

 

      If the 6 innings in regulation have not been completed,  then a new inning will begin if the time clock has not reached zero/00.

 

     When the game is over, game balls should be turned back in to the umpire

 

      Coaches of the early game must get the equipment bags from the scorebox, and coaches of the late game must return the equipment bags to the scorebox and lock the scorebox. The last team at the field should turn the field lights off. On top fields, check with concessions before turning off field lights.

 

      NSA Rule 3 Section 6 - Catcher Equipment:  It is mandatory for the catcher to wear full catcher gear - catcher’s helmet, chest protector, and shin guards.

 

**Reminder to team moms/coaches - Players will receive a popsicle after each game. Lower fields #7 &  #8 may pick up popsicles at lower concessions, with upper fields #5 & #6 using upper concessions.

2016 Tball Baseball Rules

T-ball Baseball Rules

 

4-6 T-ball/Coach Pitch Baseball

 

 General:

1. Games will last 6 innings or 60 minutes whichever comes first. Games can end in a tie.

2. Run rule 15 runs after 3 innings, 10 runs after 4 innings, and 8 runs after 5 innings.

3. 3 outs or 7 runs end an inning.

4. To stop the play, time will be called when the ball is held in defensive possession inside the baselines and is not attempting to make a play on a runner, at umpire’s discretion.

5. Pitched ball will be no closer than the 20 ft. mark from home plate on the infield.

6. Each team shall turn in a lineup 10 min. prior to the game.

7. Umpires have the final decision on all plays. Appeals must be made at the time of the call. Appeals can only be made by the head coach. Assistants will not question any calls that occur during game.

8. Head Coach is responsible for his team and need to make sure that his/her players and assistant coaches show good sportsmanship at all times. Teams failing to show good sportsmanship will result in an out for the team at current / next at bat, at umpires discretion.

9. Teams may play with a minimum of 7 players. Players may enter game late and be added to the bottom of the line-up.

 

 Offense:

1. All players present must bat, substitutions will not affect lineup. Every player bats and batting orders remain the same throughout the game.

2. If a player cannot finish an at bat that player is out. If his/her next at bat comes and still cannot bat there will be no more outs called, his/her at bat will be skipped. If a player becomes ill or injured before his/her at bat then that at bat can be skipped with no penalty.

3. Batted ball not hit past the ten-foot arc is a foul ball. Batted ball hits the pitcher coach it is a dead ball / no pitch.

4. If you are 8 runs ahead then you have to pitch to other team. Once under the 8 run lead then you can go back to the tee.

5. Players get up to 4 swings from the tee if the 4th swing is foul then that player is out. Players get up to 6 pitches from the coach and if the 6th pitch is fouled, they continue to bat until they miss the pitch or do not swing. Players get no more than 2 practice swings from the tee. If they choose to do more practice swings than a strike will be called.

6. When the ball is overthrown the first time runners can advance TWO bases no matter how many times the ball may be overthrown after the first throw. Example: Ball overthrown at first runner going to first can only advance to 3rd no matter if the ball is throw to 3rd and overthrown again THEY STAY AT 3rd.

7. Throwing the bat is a warning, second time is an out. This is per player during each game.

8. Every offensive player must wear a helmet when batting or running the bases.

9. Bat restriction: 2 ¼” Dia. No big barrel bats allowed.

10. Coaches cannot touch the runners during a live ball. First time will be a warning to that team next time any coach touches a runner during a live ball that runner will be called out.

11. There can be a hitting/pitching coach, a 1st base, and 3rd base coach on the field during offensive play.

12. There is no stealing and there is no leading off the base until the ball has been batted from the tee or hit on a pitch.

13. If the player is being pitched to he can elect to use the tee anytime during his at bat. Strike count will remained when player switches to tee. 

14. Girls may be pitched to underhanded when at bat.

 

 Defense:

1. All players will play in the field.

2. The pitcher must have one foot inside of the pitcher’s circle with a helmet with mask on when the ball is hit. Violation of this rule will result in the offensive team to accept the play or re-bat.

3. All infielders have to be behind the restraining line. Outfielders have to have both feet in the grass when the ball is hit.

4. Only two coaches can be stationed inside the coach’s circles in outfield on defense. No other defensive coaches on field. No defensive coach will be allowed on the infield while the ball is in play.

5. No more than 6 players in the infield, you can have 7 players if you add a catcher. Everyone else will be stationed in the outfield.

6. No defensive player shall be stationed in a baseline. If interference occurs, all runners will advance one base plus the bases they are advancing to.

7. If you have a catcher he/she must wear helmet and mask and stand behind umpire at umpire discretion.

8. To stop the play, time will be called when the ball is held in possession of defensive player inside the baselines, at umpire’s discretion. When the runner has stopped forward motion (or stride) and the ball is in possession of an infielder inside the baseline time will be called at the umpire discretion. 

9. The pitcher can only tag a runner out between 3rd base and home plate or the pitcher can make a force out play at home plate. The pitcher must throw the ball to get a runner out at 1st, 2nd, or 3rd base. All other players can make tags at any base.

10. No underhand rolling  or intentional grounding of the ball, by any player on the field, will be allowed. If this occurs it will be a dead ball and runners advance one base. The offensive player must attempt to throw the ball. A short distant (flip feed) throw to the base player is allowed.

11. All infielders must wear a helmet with mask.

12. Defense must take the field in a timely manner. Delays in the game can result in an out called at teams next bat, at umpire discretion.

 

 

2016 7/8 Coahes Pitch Rules

General:

1. Games will last 6 innings or 1:15 whichever comes first. Games can end in a tie.
