Tackle Football How It Works - A General Overview

  • Step 1 -Register your child on-line first and then come to a paperwork completion date to complete the registration process. There will be a couple of paperwork completion dates occurring in June. These dates will be determined and posted at a later date.  Online registrations need to be done prior to paperwork completion on-site. You will still need to stop by one of the paperwork completion dates for equipment fitting and initial weigh-in. If you select the "pay by check option," payment must be made before teams are built at the end of June. Non- paid players will be put on the waiting list.
  • Step 2 - Build teams. Players weight, age, location, and prior playing experience will be considered when assigning players to teams. Some players may fit in more than one division and sometimes teams have to be combined to balance rosters. A player will only be moved out of a requested division or school area if the parents are in agreement. Teams are filled on a first come first serve basis. If there is no space available for your player on a team, they will be put on a waiting list (If a player cannot be placed in the desired school area or a team is not available, then parents may receive a full refund minus any online registration fees.)
  • Step 3 - Get your paperwork together. This includes a Parent/Player contract, a copy of an official state birth certificate (hospital keepsake birth certificates/birth announcements are NOT accepted), a Pop Warner physical form (two-sided) signed by the doctor (dated after January 1st of the current year), copy of last school year's final report card, and concussion form.
  • Step 4 -Pick up your equipment at gear hand out Butler Acres Elementary and meet your coach. Date TBD.  An email will be sent out with each team/division's scheduled pick-up time.
  • Step 5 -Begin no pad practice Aug. 1st. Must have 10 hours before contact. Please note that the practice schedule is fairly intense, typically 4-5 days each week and lasting up to 2 hours each day. Parents must contribute time to help with the program either at games or fundraising events (chain gang, MPR play counts, concessions, etc.) during the season. In lieu of volunteer work, a $50 waiver can be paid to opt out of this responsibility.
  • Step 6 - Begin practice with full pads, as soon as 10 hour no pad practice requirements are met.
  • Step 7 - Jamboree and official player certification,  AUGUST 20TH, 2017, at Kelso High School Schroeder Field .
  • Step 8 - 1st Games schedule TBD. Games in Cowlitz County occur on Saturdays. Cross-over games played in the Camas-Vancouver-Portland area are on Sundays.
  • Step 9 - Conclude regular season around mid-to end of October.
  • Step 10 - Begin play-offs for Jr. Pee Wee Divisions and up into November.
