FAQs & Links for Volunteer Clearances

Who needs clearances?

Prior to July 1, 2015, only FCYFP coaches and assistant coaches were required to have clearances.

Beginning July 1, 2015, due to changes in state law, any adult FCYFP volunteer having direct contact with children, will need clearances.  This includes coaches, assistant coaches, concession stand workers, and all FCYFP board members - Executive Board and Regular Board.

If you were approved as a FCYFP volunteer before July 1, 2015, and do not have clearances (because you previously were not required to obtain clearances) then you have until July 1, 2016 to get your clearances.

If your clearances are older than 60 months, you also have until July 1, 2016 to get your clearances.

Clearances must be renewed every 60 months.

More information on volunteer clearances can be found at:  http://keepkidssafe.pa.gov/cs/groups/webcontent/documents/document/C_135249.pdf

What is the cost for clearances?

The Commonwealth has implemented fee reductions to help defray costs. There is no reduction at the federal level.
