The age group divisions for competition in 2023 are as follows:

AAU, USATF & TAAF track & field competition are based on an athlete's age in the current calendar year.
Example: A child turns 13 on February 15, 2023 and their friend turns 13 on November 15, 2023. Since they were each born in 2010, AAU, USATF & TAAF considers them both to be 13 years old – and in the 13-14 age groups – for the 2023 season, even though the one born in November would actually be 12 during the season and not turn 13 until after the season is over.
Example: Athletes who are still eighteen (18) years of age through the final day a national track & field (Youth Athletics) meet shall be eligible to compete in the Young Men’s and Young Women’s division.
Athletes must compete only in their own age division. No individual may compete in a younger or older age division, either in individual or relay events.
