SSAO Policy on Coach/Volunteer Screening & Requirements
COACH APPLICATION & CONSENT FORM
Per Pennsylvania Law and SSAO Policy, all coaches/assistant coaches of T-Ball, Softball, and Baseball are required to have PA State Police Criminal Background Checks, PA Child Abuse History, and FBI Fingerprint or Volunteer Affidavit Clearances/Documentation on file with SSAO. Applications and clearances must be completed and submitted to SSAO prior to the beginning of practice for the 2017 season. Volunteer clearances are valid for a period of 5 years from the earliest dated clearance. If you have provided this information to SSAO in the past and all clearances are valid without change, you will not need to resubmit. Remember to always keep a copy of these records for your own use. SSAO will not return this information to you at a later date.
All persons interested in a coach/assistant coach position will be required to submit a coaches application/consent form annually to SSAO in order to be considered for a coaching position. Additionally, all coaches will be required to obtain Concussion Awareness Certification as per CDC guidelines. See the tab on the left of our home page for Concussion Awareness information for coaches and parents. The certification course is offered online at no charge from the Centers for Disease Control website and is required to be updated annually.
Coaches/Assistants of Fastpitch Softball or any other Host League may be subject to screenings and coach/volunteer requirements of those particular host league / organizations. SSAO will notify you of any such requirements.
In all instances, SSAO reserves the right to make final determination on coaching status.
