Aerial Fusion is excited to welcome back Kim (Park) Croy to the coaching staff! Kim began baton twirling at the age of 4 in East St. Paul and at the age of 6 she started training in competitive baton twirling which lasted the next 11 years. Kim joined Aerial Fusion as an athlete in 1995. She was a class assistant as a teen and then coached for Aerial Fusion until 2007. During her competitive baton career, Kim had numerous Provincial and National titles. She is a former Provincial Junior Pairs Champion (1996 with Amy Patterson) and a Provincial Junior Freestyle Champion (1997 & 1998). Kim continued representing Manitoba at the Canadian Team Trials until 2000. She has had the opportunity to coach Provincial and International Cup team members. Outside of baton, Kim is a District Support Rep at Manitoba Hydro. She will be coaching the high performance athletes in skills and compulsories.
Leisha Strachan, CBTF Level 3 Coach and NCCP Level 2

She is a former Canadian Senior Freestyle Champion (1994), Grand National Solo and 2-Baton champion (1994), CBTF Senior Athlete and Overall Athlete of the Year (1994), and a 7-time Canadian Contingent member competing in freestyle (highest placing - 6th in 1994) and pair events garnering 2 world bronze medals for her efforts (with Kristin Macaraeg). In her time on the national team, she traveled to France, Japan, Holland, Italy, and Hawaii. Leisha is one of the founding coaches of Aerial Fusion Baton in Winnipeg. In addition to being a CBTF Level 3 coach, she is also a certified M1, M2, M3, M5, and Masters judge and, a highlight to her judging so far has been judging at the Catalonian National Championships in Barcelona, Spain in 2009. She has had the opportunity to coach provincial and national team members and has also choreographed for different athletes across Canada, the USA, England, and Scotland. In 2012, she coached a Trans Canada team with Kristin Macaraeg. The team represented Canada at the World Championships in France earning a 5th place finish. Outside of baton, Leisha is a professor at the University of Manitoba in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Recreation Management (specializing in sport psychology and youth development).

Jane Tan, CBTF Level 3 Coach and NCCP Level 2

Jane has been coaching with Aerial Fusion Baton since its inception and is one of its founding members (having coached for 1 year with Fusion Baton Club with Leisha Strachan). She started baton at the age of 5 at Orioles Community Club and continued for 11 years. In fact, Leisha and Jane twirled together in the same club, the Joycettes, from age 7 until 16. She achieved many accomplishments over the years as a twirler, competing at a provincial and national level. She cites twirling on the provincial team and traveling all over Canada as highlights of her involvement as an athlete in the sport. Jane has developed many athletes in the club who have excelled in the sport including the 2009 Junior Level A Provincial Freestyle champion. She now has a daughter who is following in her footsteps! Outside of baton, Jane is the Assistant Branch manager for BMO Bank of Montreal.

Junior Coaches
Currently, there are 2 junior coaches in the club. These are elite athletes who are current and former Provincial Team members and champions. The assistant coaches are Kayla and Jennifer!

Kayla competes in individual and group events as an AF athlete. Since joining AF in 2007, she has received bronze medals at the national level in the team event and more recently in Senior Pairs (2008 & 2011). She completed the CBTF Level 2 Coaching course in December 2010 and is gaining valuable experience. Kayla is also an accomplished dancer and is excited to share her love of dance and baton with Aerial Fusion athletes! Along with acro, Kayla will also teach competitive baton students. Outside of baton, Kayla is a student at the University of Manitoba.

Jennifer is also a current Aerial Fusion athlete and started with the club at the age of 6. She is the 2009 Manitoba Provincial Junior Freestyle Champion and competed at the 2009 Canadian Championships where she placed 10th overall. In 2011, she won the Manitoba Provincial Senior Freestyle competition and competed with Kayla to win a bronze medal at the Canadian Championships in 2011. She completed the CBTF Level 2 Coaching course in December 2010. Jennifer's love for the sport is evident as she even takes time to teach others the sport while at her lake in the summer! Jennifer will be teaching recreational baton classes and will also coach in the competitive baton program. Outside of baton, Jenny is also a student at the University of Manitoba.
