Softball Program

The ideal number of players on a team will be 12. Based on registration numbers, AYS&B softball and baseball programs may accept registrations after the deadline to fill out team rosters for all age levels.

AYS&B will offer the following softball programs this year.

7 & 8 YEAR OLD PROGRAM
This program stresses the basic fundamentals of baseball and softball.

9 & 10 YEAR OLD PROGRAM
The girls in this age group will play in the Chippewa Valley Fastpitch League with some travel involved. Our girls will play within a 40-mile radius plus Altoona. Playing other communities and a closer age group will only enhance their softball experience. This group will play in the annual Cinder City Days League Tournament in Altoona in June.

11 & 12 YEAR OLD PROGRAM
This age group will also play in the Chippewa Valley Fastpitch League. This year there will be a Gold and Silver division, in which players will be assigned to teams by skill level. This age group will be more competitive and will follow ASA rules, with a few exceptions, as our league in Altoona has done in the past. The 11 & 12’s will also play in the Cinder City Days League Tournament in Altoona in June.

14 & UNDER and HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE
These programs participate in various leagues. The U14 and High School groups will play in the Chippewa Valley Fastpitch League. For U14 this year there will be a Gold and Silver division, in which players will be assigned to teams by skill level. The High School group will continue to participate with other communities in the West Wisconsin Travel League. All age groups could have additional games scheduled as well.

The age for softball is determined by the player’s age as of January 1st of the season. This date does not always match with their grade in school. You can request that she play with her classmates. There are benefits to playing her age as of January 1st, however, especially if she is playing in ASA tournaments. League play is not as critical. You can play up an age group, but you cannot play down. Girl’s softball in Altoona is governed by ASA Rules.
