Newer parents may be wondering what is the magic number or birthdate when their child moves to the next level. Please remember there are some variations related to ice mites or in house programs as well as when skaters transfer from bantam to high school. Here is the general birthdate guide from USA Hockey that you can follow when registering your child:
MITES: (8 years of age and under)
SQUIRT: (9 and 10 year olds) --1/1/02 – 12/31/03
U12: (12 years or younger) --1/1/00 – 12/31/01
PEE WEE: (11 and 12 year olds) --1/1/00 – 12/31/01
U14: (13 and 14 year olds) --1/1/98 – 12/31/99
BANTAM: (13 and 14 year olds) --1/1/98 – 12/31/99
MIDGET/HIGH SCHOOL: (14-18 year olds)
