D Rays players came prepared to play!!!
D Rays came to play with great focus. All players arrived on time even with day light savings ready to go. After a quick warm up (do to the gates not opening to 8:15 am.) the D Rays were the home team and scored 3 runs inthe first and were batting in the bottom of the second and had scored three more runs with only one out when play was stopped.
Our coaches were proud the way you guys took the field and attacked the Rage with some real strong hitting.

DOMINICAN INVITATION BY AMAURY TELEMACO
On October 4, 2004 I received a phone call from Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Amaury Telemaco's agent extending an invitation to play in the Dominican Republic in 2005. After I showed an interest, he had Amaury call me to discuss some options and he was really interested in our team playing in the DR. His home town is very close to the youth baseball programs near a 5 star resort. He would be able to schedule whatever games we would be interested.
It ended by Amaury giving us his direct cell number and home phone in the Dominican. We are to advise him on our intensions asap so he can start to make arrangements.
I understand this is a big undertaking for us. I have not committed us to anything. I would like everyone's feedback. Obviously there are many positives and negatives to this type of trip. If we decided to take on this project we could fundraise throughout the winter, etc. Let me know your thoughts and if you were interested would March 24-28 approximatley be good or after school is out.

Please accept this as your first official welcome to the AAU National
Baseball Championships, though we have had various communications with many
of you. Please carefully review all of this material and then print and copy
it for distribution to your entire travel group. Other important
communications will follow.
Your registration time, which was assigned randomly, is reflected in the
Registration attachment. There are 85 teams between the two divisions and of
course, very few registrants would volunteer for an early time. Accordingly,
we have assigned registration times randomly and deferred the start of
registration until 11:00am Friday, July 23 for your travel convenience.
The Registration time document and all other attachments are Word documents
so if you are unable to open them, we encourage you to forward the email to
someone with the ability to open and print Word documents.
Registration is scheduled for the Myrtle Beach Pavilion and directions are
provided below; the Pavilion is located on the oceanfront in Myrtle Beach
and we hope that you, the players, their parents and other members of the
travel party enjoy the uniqueness of registration and a picnic on the
oceanfront.
If your hotel registrations were made through our designated travel agent,
Myrtle Beach Trips, or if you registered directly with one of our host
hotels, each room reservation provides a parking pass for registration, four
free picnic passes, and four passes to your choice of three different
amusement parks. UPON ARRIVAL IN MYRTLE BEACH, YOU MUST FIRST GO TO YOUR
HOTEL AND PICK UP YOUR BONUS PACKET which includes all the passes described
above since you will need your parking pass and picnic passes and may elect
to use enjoy the amusement park adjacent to the Pavilion.
For those of you who have not previously secured picnic passes, they will be
available on site for $10.00; the picnic menu includes, all you can eat,
hamburgers, hotdogs, fried chicken, baked beans, potato salad, slaw and a
drink. "Combo" passes for the amusement park and the picnic are available at
substantial prices.
****Please remember to bring your state flag and team banner with you so
that you can display them during the "Presentation of Teams" at opening
ceremonies.
A preliminary Schedule of Events for the week is also attached and that
schedule includes the currently anticipated times for all events on Friday,
including the Parent's Orientation meeting and the mandatory Coaches
meeting.
Subsequent important email communications will follow so "stay tuned". We
look forward to seeing you soon.

JERSEY DEVIL RAYS TAKE 2ND IN DEL VAL FALL BALL LEAGUE
D Rays put up a tough game vs the Arsenal in the Championship game. Tie ball game at 1-1 to the bottom of the sixth when the Arsenal scored 2 to go ahead 3-1. The D Rays had a chance to come back in the top of the 7th but weren't able to pull it out.
As I mentioned, you guys had a great and relaxed fall ball season. We batted everyone all the way through the whole season even in the championship game. Your efforts should be commended as well as your positive team spirit every game.
All of our coaches are proud! Thanks to everyone who helped out this fall including Bob Mucerino, Matt Mog and especially Coach Jeff Sheets who was relentless being there for the team.
Have a great off-season and we will be intouch soon to go over our plans for the 2005 season.
Thanks,
Coach Mario

PITCHING REVIEW
October 2, 2003 --
Steps
1 45 degree Transfer step
(allows pivot foot set without losing balance)
2 Pivot
(step down in front of rubber)
3 Lift and Load
(lift knee above waist and tork to get knee aligned with back knee, foot up)
4 Flex back leg & glide into break position
5 Start to drive
(hips start to turn, back knee starts to turn, back foot rotates)
6 Pull non throwing arm in, release then hip roll
7 Finished positon, ready for fielding
Practice these steps at home over and over so it becomes second nature. Also practice holding at the lift and load step to work on your balance.

JERSEY DEVIL RAYS RETURN HOME WITH HARDWARE FROM MD TOURNAMENT
March 28, 2004 --
WOW!!!! 3rd Place!! What a great start! Our staff is very proud of all the D Ray players and their efforts to try to bring home a championship. The bottom line was, we were in the running to win the tournament until late Sunday night. We rallied to pull within 3 runs of the Central Jersey Patriots but just fell a little short. What a fight our team gave them. It was HEROIC to see our team fight back and then have to hustle under the time constraints to play another inning in brittle cold weather in an attempt to move on. We should all be proud of our parents, players and coaches who showed team spirit and determination in an effort to pull out a victory. We gave it our best up until the last minutes of a long 2 day tournament.
This was a character building weekend for our team. As I mentioned in the past. It is the team who improves the most from preseason that is going to bring home the most championships. We are headed in that direction for sure. I'll post game recaps later.
Again, great job! I'm proud to be your coach and the other coaches are as well. Let's stay focused and get prepared for this Saturday and Sunday, opening day and the Rivershark tournament.

Jersey Devil Rays - Will Film each player this winter
October 2, 2003 --
This winter we will film batting practice and have individual consultations with each player.
We will point out the fundamental areas of concern for each player. It is this type of focus and hard work that each player needs to concentrate on in order to reach their fullest potential as a hitter.
Listed below is a list of the basics that each player should become familar with as well as a list so each coach can uniformaly discuss the correct material so that the player only hears one set of instructions. I'm sure this will help.
