PREMIER MIDWEST CATCHERS CAMP returns to Ripon College over the Christmas Holiday Break
December 27, 2009 - 12:00 PM --   This is one of the few camps in the country that will focus 100% on catching and improving the skills of the leader on the baseball field. Campers can expect specific progressions on proper throwing mechanics, blocking, receiving, pitch calling, fielding, plays at the plate, pop ups, leadership, communication and the relationship with the pitcher. Another unique element that elevates this camp is that each camper will receive two video clips of their throwing action sent their email address that can be played back on their computer’s media player. Each catcher will also receive a detailed written evaluation directly from Darin Everson sent via email. Below is an actual example of a written evaluation from our 2008 Premier Midwest Catchers Camp. REGISTER ONLINE OR MAIL IN YOUR REGISTRATION ASAP.

Johnny Catcher - Anywhere, WI - Junior in 2009

    Best Throwing Velocity: 65 MPH
    Best TT2: 2.20 seconds

Pretty good with your square set up; having six eyes square to the pitcher - work to stay square in your set up on every pitch. Keep working on your flexibility. When you work to stay more relaxed in your set ups it will allow you to give your pitcher the best possible target. Try to show a big target for the pitcher and keep your elbow relaxed in your SHOW-RELAX-RECEIVE. Continue to work on having good flexion in your left arm to help with your receiving; keeping your hands as soft as they can be throughout. Remember to keep your elbow on or outside your left knee. We think the paddle drill is a great drill for you to work on staying relaxed within your set ups. When playing catch be sure to get the ball to your bare hand as soon as the ball hits your glove. With your throwing action, we want to minimize your right foot step; get that right foot down as quickly as possible in your R-L throw action and try to gain ground toward 2nd base with your short step. I think your time to 2nd base will be lowered when your right foot learns to be short and quick. With your blocking you do a good job with your glove. Looks like you block with good balance, but we feel you need to get wider and lower with your body - you can help this by working on getting your ankles more flat to the ground; this will naturally get your body lower and give your body smaller holes to cover with your glove. Good job overall and keep working to improve. Hopefully we can help you fulfill your goals for baseball and catching.

2007 PREMIER MIDWEST CATCHERS CAMP Receives Great Feedback
We received many positive comments about the details taught at the camp on Sunday. We were thrilled to work with a full camp of catchers and look forward to seeing all of the catchers back next year over the holiday vacation next year. Great job of hard work to all of the catchers!

Our Midwest Catchers Camp is one of the few premier camps that will focus 100% on the most demanding position in baseball, catching. There are many camps and instructional opportunities for many aspects of baseball, but catching tends to undertaught and overlooked. We look to help develop the player who is serious about becoming the best catcher he can be. In this premier camp specifically for catchers, camp director Darin Everson and his staff will put each catcher into specific and detailed drills and analyze their skills through our video analysis with Everson.

    CAMP HIGHLIGHTS

    * Director Darin Everson: current minor league manager with the Florida Marlins, 7-yr. professional career C & 1B
    * Lead Instructor: Korey Feiner, current Minnesota Twins minor league catcher

    * Baseball & Catcher specific training sessions with Nate McConnell - Director of "Ahead of the Game"
