What is Lacrosse?
"Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in the United States." Written in Sports Illustrated in 2007.
And guess what? It's the fastest growing sport in the Tampa Bay area.
Games are played on a football sized field with ten players aside. Players use a 'stick' that has a 'pocket' that allows players to pass, catch, scoop, cradle the ball and score on a 6' X 6' net. It is truly termed, the 'fastest sport on two feet.'
The nature of the sport of lacrosse has an intrinsic level of competition built in as our teams will be playing against other Tampa Bay REC and Youth programs within the West Florida Lacrosse League. Competition is an important element of any sport and as kids grow they naturally become more competitive.
Playing time for games will be based primarily on sportsmanship, effort, behavior, and attendance. After these, skill level will be a factor depending on game conditions. Youth lacrosse is governed by US Lacrosse and the West Florida Lacrosse League.
