Colossians 3:12-17

Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

David Thorton Tennesse Titan #50 "I asked God to change my desires and give me new friends. He answered every one of my prayers, and things started changing."
Prayer changes things.

November 16, 2009  --
LaDainian Tomlinson, an inspiration.

LaDainian tells The 700 Club, “God has given me all these blessings. A lot of people may know my face and know that I’m a good player on the football field, but they probably don’t really know me as a person. I owe this to God; it's all about Him.”

Turns out, LaDainian received some pretty good advice when he was a kid.

“My mom told me a long time ago [that] God would take me to places I ’d never dreamed if I kept Him first and gave Him all the glory. I believe that with all my might. It's still the same way with me. I make sure I always give Him all the glory and praise, because I know that in one second, one game, one play, it could be all over. So I’m just here right now having success, but at the same time, I know it's all because of Him.”

Known as “lt”, this is one quick and tough running back, but he was vulnerable at age 14. One day in church, he was overwhelmed by the Spirit of God.

“I just started to cry for some reason," he recalls. "I couldn’t stop crying. I felt like a baby all over again. At the same time, I felt like my life had changed. From that point on, I knew that if I had faith in God that He would take me wherever I wanted to go, as long as I praised His name and as long as I gave Him all the glory in whatever I did.”

To LaDainian, part of giving God glory is being a Christian example to his fellow Chargers.

“The way you are in your life everyday, the things you do, the things you don’t do -- they understand that he has a lot of faith in God. I just want to do things the right way," he says. "Over the years as I went through a lot more things, I’ve gotten closer and closer to God as far as praying a lot more, being into the Word. The thing about it is learning more about God and His purpose for you each and every day just trying to live your life right.”

LaDainian is known as much for his humility as he is for his records, and he keeps perspective by finding his identity in Christ, not football.

“As long as you believe in Him, no matter what happens in your life, understand that it's all for a purpose. Try to understand what God wants you to do in this lifetime," he advises. "Once you find that out, your life will be more clear, and you will understand exactly what you need to do to be successful.”

Hebrews 10:26-29 NIV

If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgment and of raging fire that will consume the enemies of God. Anyone who rejected the law of Moses died without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much more severely do you think a man deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God under foot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace?

Psalm 90:14-17

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love,
that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.

Make us glad for as many days as you have afflicted us,
for as many years as we have seen trouble.

May your deeds be shown to your servants,
your splendor to their children.

May the favor [b] of the Lord our God rest upon us;
establish the work of our hands for us—
yes, establish the work of our hands

Romans 8:35-39

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: 'For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.' No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Isaiah 32:6-8

For the fool speaks folly,
his mind is busy with evil:
He practices ungodliness and
spreads error concerning the
Lord;
the hungry he leaves empty
and from the thirsty he
withholds water.
The scoundrel's methods are wicked,
he makes up evil schemes
to distroy the poor with lies,
even when the plea of the needy is
just.
But the noble man makes noble plans,
and by noble deeds he stands.

August 23, 2009  --

Proverbs 28:27

He who gives to the poor will
lack nothing,
but he who closes his eyes to them
receives many curses.

Proverbs 28:14

Blessed is the man who always
fears the Lord,
but he who hardens his heart
falls into trouble.

HEBREWS 12:28
August 3, 2009  --

Therefore, since we are receiving a
kingdom that cannot be shaken, let
us be thankful, and so worship God
acceptably with reverence and awe,
for our "God is a consuming fire."

Colossians 2:6-10

So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord,
continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him,
strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and
overflowing in thankfulness. See to it that no one
takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy,
which depends on human tradition and the basic principles
of this world rather than on Christ.

1 Timothy 3:16

Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great:
He appeared in a body,
was vindicated by the Spirit,
was seen by angels,
was preached among the nations,
was believed on in the world,
was taken up in glory.

May 15, 2009  --

Paul speaks here to the tendency toward self indulgence. Paul challenges the Christian to the same discipline and rigorous self-denial as a prize- winning athlete, yet not for the reward of a garland of green leaves, but for a crown that endures forever.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

The Resurrection
REJOICE!!! The Son has Risen!!!

Matthew 28:1-7

After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day
of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary
went to look at the tomb.

There was a violent earthquake, for an angel
of the Lord came down from Heaven and, going
to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat
on it. His appearance was like lightening, and
his clothes were white as snow. The guards
were so afraid of him that they shook and
became like dead men.

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid,
for I know that you are looking for Jesus,
who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen,
just as he said. Come and see the place where
lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples:
He has risen from the dead and is going ahead
of you into Galilee. There you will see him.
Now I have told you."

Luke 2:8-9

And there were shepherds living
out in the fields nearby, keeping
watch over their flocks at night. An
angel of the Lord appeared to them,
and the glory of the Lord shone around
them, and they were terrified.

On this ordinary day, the Lord may have a word of encouragement, guidance or instruction for us, if we're listening and ready to obey. Be ready for the Lord's surprise visits, for life is made of ordinary days!

Matthew 1:18

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ
came about: His mother Mary was
pledged to be married to Joseph,
but before they came together, she
was found to be with child through
the Holy Spirit.

John 1:1

Romans 12:2

Do not conform any longer to
the pattern of this world, but
be transformed by the renewing
of your mind. Then you will be

will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Mark 1:35

Very early in the morning,
while it was still dark, Jesus
got up, left the house,
and went off to a solitary
place, where he prayed.

Proverbs 16:18-19

Pride goes before destruction,
and a haughty spirit
before a fall.
Better to be of a humble spirit,
with the lowly,
Than to divide the spoil
with the proud.

Lessons from Ephesians:

4:22-24
You were taught, with regard to
your former way of life, to put
off your old self, which is being
corrupted by its deceitful desires:
to be made new in the attitude of
your minds: and to put on the new self,
created to be like God in true righteousness
and holiness.

4:26
In your anger do not sin.

4:31-32
Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger,
brawling and slander, along with every
form of malice. Be kind and compassionate
to one another, forgiving eachother, just
as in Christ God forgave you.

October 29, 2008  --

Hebrews 12:28-29

Therefore, since we are receiving
a kingdom which cannot be shaken,
let us have grace, by which we
may serve God acceptably with
reverence and godly fear. For
our God is a consuming fire.

Matthew 7:1-2

Jesus said
" Do not judge, or you too will be judged.
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged,
and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

ROMANS 12:14-16

Bless those who persecute you;
bless and do not curse.
Rejoice with those who rejoice;
mourn with those who mourn. Live in
harmony wIth one another. Do not be proud,
but be willing to associate with people
of low position.
Do not be conceited.

Psalms 145:17-19

The Lord is rightous in all his ways
and loving toward all he has made.
The Lord is near to all who call on him,
to all who call on him in truth.
He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cry and saves them.

Matthew 19:13-14

Then little children were brought to Jesus for
Him to place His hands on them and pray for
them. But the disciples rebuked those who
brought them.

Jesus said,"Let the little children come to me,
and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven
belongs to such as these."

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him,
and He will make your paths straight.

Luke 6:43-45
Jesus said:

"No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad
tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by
it's own fruit. People do not pick figs from thorn-
bushes, or grapes from briers. The good man
brings good things out of the good stored up
in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out
of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the
overflow of his heart his mouth speaks."

Psalm 18:1-3

I love you, O Lord, my strength.
The Lord is my rock, my fortress and
my deliverer;
my God is my rock in whom I take
refuge.
He is my shield and the horn of my
salvation, my stronghold.
I call to the Lord who is worthy of
praise,
and I am saved from my enemies.

An inspirational writing written for me by a dear friend...

Let this be the year, Lord
Let this be the hour
Let it be true of me,
Let this be the time
That I know in my heart
You're drawing me closer to Thee.
My hopes and my dreams
My sorrows and cares
I gladly lay down at your feet,
As I walk through my days
My heart constantly prays
To hear Your song, softly and sweet.
For I know how I need You
How my soul needs to see You
Moving with power and might,
Touching those that I love
And those I hold dear
With Your mercy and grace and pure light.
I ask and I pray
That You bless me each day
And fill me with hope; make me strong,
May peace ever guide me
As You walk beside me
Assured it's to You I belong
