January 2009,

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On behalf of the FRB Board of Directors, please accept our best wishes for a wonderful 2009. We are hard at work preparing for our 56th season of youth baseball for the children of Flemington Borough and Raritan Township.

Enclosed with this letter are several items including a registration form for the Spring 2009 baseball season, a list of important dates for 2009, an invitation to our annual FRB Golf Outing and a sponsorship form. FRB relies on the generosity and support of our community. If you own a business or know someone who does, please ask them to support FRB by sponsoring a team for 2009. Our golf outing is also a great way to support the league and have a great day of fun out on the links.

As we have the last 2 years, FRB will continue to have a work bond program in 2009. The goal of this program is to meet the day to day need of running the league, while also meeting the needs and desires of our members. For 2009 the work bond cost will be $50 per family, regardless of the number of children in our program. Families with one child in the league will be required to provide 5 volunteer work hours. Families with two or more children in the league will be required to provide 10 volunteer hours. After completing these work hours, your work bond fee will be refunded. We also offer the option of “opting out” where you can elect to not volunteer at all, and simply forfeit the $50 work bond fee.

The Board of Directors is constantly reviewing opportunities to improve both our facilities and the baseball experience for our FRB members. The costs associated with field maintenance and facilities management are significant. We are in the process of having the lights replaced on fields 1 and 3 and this should be completed prior to the start of the 2009 season. The old lights were outdated and in disrepair. The new lights should help ensure that FRB can continue to offer the youth of Flemington and Raritan Township a safe place to play baseball for decades to come. The cost to install new lights, on our existing poles, was in excess of $90,000. There are many other improvements that we would like to make to the facility; however we need the support of volunteers and donations to make them happen. If you would like to be part of a committee to raise the funds needed for improvements please contact Ken Pizzico at KenP@frb-baseball.com.

As always, we appreciate all of the support from each family as we continue to strive to make each child’s experience the best that it can be. We wish you all Happy and Safe new year and look forward to a great 2009 season.

Sincerely,

Jim Whalen
President FRB Board of Directors
