Jim Anderson
November 3, 2004 --
Basketball in Scotland is today sadened by the loss of one of its hardest working and best loved friends. Glasgow Gators Club manager Jim Anderson was this morning involved in a serious motorcycle accident on the M8 and has died from his injuries.
Jim was much loved in the basketball world for his hard work as an official, as treasurer to the SLBA, as player and as club manager/coach to the Glasgow Gators. He will be sadly missed by all his friends and basketball colleagues.
We pass on our deepest sympathy to Helen and the rest of Jim's family.
Here is a link to some of the tributes been posted on scotball from the baskeball community.

Jim Anderson Tribute - Message from Helen
December 19, 2004 --
I am sorry that it has taken me so long to respond to everyone but am sure you will all understand what an emotional time this has been. On behalf of myself and Slim's family, I would like to thank everyone for all the floral tributes, messages, cards and phone calls which were and still are very much appreciated. Our thanks also go to those who made yesterday's Tribute Game possible.I was pleasantly surprised to receive the engraved crystal plaque in remembrance of Jim and, those who know me well, know that this will be displayed amongst my most treasured crystal collection. I am also overwhelmed that the SLBA have re-named the Senior Men's Knock-Out Cup to the Anderson Cup in Slim's honour.
Little did I know when I met and later married Jim that I was taking on not just the Anderson Clan but also the Gators Club and the rest of the Basketball Fraternity! For that I am very grateful.
My message to you all (and I know it is one Slim would agree with) is 'we all get one shot at life, so live life for today - work hard and more importantly PLAY HARD and have as much FUN as you can.'
THANK YOU ALL for making Jim's time on earth worthwhile, interesting and full of mischief.
Helen F Anderson
