    New season Ins & Outs
September 1, 2006  --   Happily, the bulk of our squad has remained intact from last season.

There are 2 departures and the 1st is a big one for the club. Donna Jack has finally succumbed to her knee injury, and has had to retire from playing. The club owes Donna a huge debt for all her hard work over many years where she has served as player and coach, among other duties. We hope that Donna can remain part of the club behind the scenes, and definitely at social occasions. No one can put people off their dinner with the subject of her conversations like Donna can!!

Also, unfortunately, Nat Millar is having to return home down South, and will not be available this year. We would like to wish Nat all the best for the future, thanks for all your efforts last season!

    Coming in we have -
Heather Hannah makes a welcome return to the club after the birth of her son last year, strengthening the pool of forwards at the club.

Complete Grangemouth newbies are Donna Burns & Maree Anderson.

Donna joined the club in early 2006 and has registered for this year. Previously a volleyball player, Donna has made leaps and bounds in her development of her basketball skills in the last few months.

Maree joins us, bringing National League experience gained with Falkirk Fury. A centre, she will bring presence and much needed height to the centre of both keys, and power on the boards.

    Regular training restarts
Club training restarts on Thursday 31st August.

As usual, in Grangemouth High School, from 7pm until 9pm.

    AGM outcome
July 5, 2006  --   The AGM turned out to be quickest and least contentious ever - a sign of the level of togetherness the club has had this season.

Congratulations to the following award winners -

(Belated) congratulations to Heather Hannah on the birth of son Rowan on December 16th.

Game results has a kind of report!

    Squad changes for new season
August 26, 2005  --   Another season build-up began last night. We have 4 new faces in, Jen Brown, Rona McGarva, Nat Millar, & Gail MacLanachan. Plus we are further strengthened by the return of vastly experienced Donna Jack, who has returned after missing last season through her pregnancy and subsequent birth of son Malachie.

Donna is working hard to get back to her best, using her speed, energy and tactical awareness to share point guard duties with Lesley Russell.

Jen has moved to the area after graduating from Aberdeen Uni, where she was a member of the university's team. She is an energetic and aggressive guard who will complement our style.

Rona has experience of playing in Strathclyde, and has played for the then Scotland Coach Alan Turner at Kilmarnock. She brings much needed height to the key.

Southampton girl Nat now works out of Edinburgh, and should do a job at either guard or forward. She has been an automatic pick for Customs & Excise in their national team for several years now.

Gail joined us at the start of 2005, never having played the game before, as a means to getting fit. Having picked up the game and improved at a phenomenal rate, she should find herself getting court minutes in the guard spot.

Recruiting the 5 above should help ease the blow of losing Charlaine Simpson who has switched sports, and Heather Hannah, who is expecting her first child mid-season.

    Bring it on!

    AGM news
June 16, 2005  --   Following last night's AGM, the following appointments were confirmed, and decisions made -

Donna Jack replaces Charlaine Simpson as Chairperson, while the following continue in their roles. Mel Stowe (Secretary), Anthea Barrett (Treasurer), June McCormick (Social Convener), Dougie Gillespie (coach).

Training will remain at one night a week (Thursdays), will start prompt at 7pm, and weekly fees have been raised to £2 per session.

June 8, 2005  --   Fundraising Bingo Night a huge success!

    Players In, Players Out
September 10, 2004  --   Grangemouth begin the new season with 3 new recruits to their roster.

Welcome back recently married JULIANNE TADLA, returning back after a year out of basketball. Also welcome to HEATHER HANNAH and CHRISTINE MILNE, and LESLEY RUSSELL. Heather & Lesley have lots of National League experience, having played most recently with last season's Scottish Cup winners Polonia Phoenix. Christine is another ex-player of ours, again with National League experience.

Our best wishes also go to Jacq Jones and Pauline Richardson, who have joined local club Falkirk Fury, to have a shot at National League basketball.

    Pre-season disrupted
August 3, 2004  --   Sadly, our chance to shine at netball has been cruelly torn from our grasp - Falkirk Council have closed Bonnybridge Community Centre at short notice.

Training therefore starts back instead at Bo'ness Sports Centre, 6.45 till 7.30.

    Pre-season starts to take shape
July 13, 2004  --   In the first part of our lead-up to 2004/05 season, we have a challenge match at NETBALL versus a local Bonnybridge club. This will be on our first night back on 5th August.

Coach thinks it will be good for getting us back into practice for fitness, hand-eye co-ordination, team work, mobility, and most importantly, going out and having a giggle together.

Venue is Bonnybridge Community Centre, 8pm - 10pm. please arrive sharp as first 10 minutes is a quick lesson in the rules, rest of the time we'll just whup ass as usual.
