2011 NCRA Kennworth Park Yearly Update

It has been another great year at Kennworth Park. With our Spring 2011 season coming to an end and the elections completed, the new board is looking forward to getting started to continue to make Kennworth Park one of the best parks in the county. The board would like to thank all the players and parents for continuing to make Kennworth Park a great place for the girls to learn the game of softball, develop friendships that will last a lifetime, and learn skills that will help them in their future endeavors. We would also like to thank all the exiting board members, Jeff Michaud and Rhonda Wilcox, for their years of dedicated service to this park. Their contributions to this park will be missed and their shoes will be hard to fill. Thanks again to Jeff and Rhonda. To the incoming board members, I want to thank them for stepping up to help build this park into a place the girls can be proud to be a part of and a place the parents can have the confidence that their hard earned dollars are well spent.

With the elections now complete, we still have numerous positions available for anyone who would like to make a difference for our girls. We are here to make sure the girls have the best experience possible. Any help we can get would be greatly appreciated. Please go to our website and look over the open positions and see if there is an opening in which you may be able to serve and help out our girls and the park. It is all about the girls having a place to play ball and we are here to give them the best opportunity around.

You may have noticed some changes around the park this past year. We strive to have the best facilities in the county. We work hard to maintain not only the fields, but the park buildings and structures. Our playing surface on the fields are some of the best in the county. By playing an NGFA schedule in which we travel to other parks, it gives us an opportunity to see how we are doing. Based on the parks we have played at, our fields and facilities are by far some of the best. We have added roof coverings over the dugouts to help protect our girls from the elements. We continue to grade and condition the playing surfaces to keep them from being just dirt to play on. Our concession stand continues to be one of the more cleaner and well run stands. This is all for our girls. This is to make sure they can be proud to be a Bandit.

Our Rec program had a great Spring 2011 season. We had some of the top teams at every age group. We had 3 teams place well at the end of year NGFA tournament. Our travel side of the program has also had a successful season. We have had several teams win or place in many tournaments. We look forward to another successful Fall 2011 season. Good luck to all Travel teams in their quest for gaining berths in national tournaments.

Our All-Star season is well under way. Their tournaments will be starting soon. We will be hosting our own tournament on June 17-19, 2011. We invite all members to come out and watch this tournament. We also would love any help we can get in running the stands. We are also preparing for the Fall 2011 season. Please check the website often for registration dates. The registration for the Fall 2011 season will be starting in Mid to Late August 2011. We have monthly board meetings that are posted on our website. We invite all members to attend and give us feedback on how we are doing, how we can improve, and gives us any ideas for improving the park.

In closing, the incoming board is looking forward to the upcoming year. If there are any members that would like to become part of the board, please let us know. Your help is needed and our girls will thank you for it. This park is here for them. Our mission continues to be A PLACE FOR ANY GIRL TO PLAY ANY LEVEL OF SOFTBALL THEY DESIRE AND A PARK OF WHICH THEY CAN BE PROUD OF AND DEVELOP FRIENDSHIPS AND SKILLS THEY CAN USE LATER IN LIFE. Thank you parents, players, and outgoing and incoming board members for all your support for our girls.
