Walt Terrell- Wife- Karen, married for 29 years, 3 children – Ryan and Michael (former Colonels) and Erin. Employed by Pepsi-Cola. Coach Terrell joined the Colonels after a very successful major league baseball career. While in the majors Walt pitched for the New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres, New York Mets and Detroit Tigers. Coach Terrell took over as head coach of the Colonels in 1995. Coach Terrell instructs in all facets of the game with emphasis on pitching and hitting. Coach Terrell also maintains a networking relationship with the college baseball coaches throughout the Midwest and is instrumental in assisting players from the Colonels, as well as players from other local programs, continue their baseball careers at the collegiate level. Coach Terrell is also the Head Baseball Coach at St. Henry District High School in Erlanger, Kentucky.



Joe Price- Joe was born and raised in Southern California and attended college at Oklahoma State University, transferring to University of Oklahoma for his junior year. As a professional baseball player Joe was selected in the 4th round of the 1977 Summer Free Agent Draft. He joined the Cincinnati Reds in 1980 and pitched for seven consecutive seasons before signing with the San Francisco Giants as a free agent in 1987. Price finished his 11-year major league career with the Boston Red Sox in 1989 and the Baltimore Orioles in 1990.

After his baseball career he has been President of Romona Bottling, Inc. in Southern California, a business consultant for bottled water operations in Melbourne, Sydney and Darwin , Australia and Southern California and is currently Vice President of Financial Services for HUFF REALTY, a HomeServices of America company and Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary.

Joe and his wife Lee Ann live in Hebron KY. They have two children, Ryan and Andrea. This is Joe’s first year with the Colonels and he will assist with the 16U team.


Denny Taney- 3 Children – Kim, Brian (former Colonel) and Jared. Graduate of Thomas More College and employed by Ohio National Financial Services for the past 29 years. Coach Taney has been involved in coaching youth sports for more than 30 years, including boys and girl’s basketball, boy’s soccer, girl’s softball, football and baseball. Coach Taney founded the Colonels Baseball Program in 1994. Coach Taney is primarily responsible for setting the schedule and all the behind the scene administrative functions. While on the field, Coach Taney works with the catchers and outfielders. Coach Taney also works closely with the college baseball coaches throughout the Midwest to assist in placing Colonel players on college rosters.



Vince DeVita- Wife-Camille, married 25 years, 2 children-Jessica and Giovanni. Retired after more than 41 years in the Airlines Industry. Coach DeVita is in his second year with the Colonels and brings a wealth of baseball knowledge to the team. Vince is involved in all facets of instruction. Coach Vince's prior coaching experience includes starting a 7 year junior program that served to feed Ryle High School's varsity program, Head Coach at Gray Middle School, Special Olympics coach for 4 years and Assistant Baseball Coach at St. Henry District High School.






Jim Arlinghaus- Wife – Mary, 2 children – Matthew and Brad (former Colonel). Employed by ITW/Signode for 36 years. Coach Arlinghaus has been involved in coaching youth sports for more than 20 years and is in his eleventh year on the staff of the Colonels. Coach Arlinghaus serves as bench coach and official scorer. Players not actively participating in the game will have an opportunity to learn the proper way to score a game and prepare a game summary under Coach Arlinghaus’ tutelage.






Foster McElfresh- Foster was a middle infielder / outfielder on the Colonel teams of 1996 through 1998. After high school he attended the University of Kentucky where he obtained a degree in Plant and Soil Science in 2003. Upon returning to northern Kentucky he joined the family painting business and in the spring of 2003 began his baseball coaching career as the head coach of the freshman team with the Scott High School baseball program. He has continued as a coach with the school and today serves as an assistant coach with the varsity team.

In 2005 Foster rejoined the Colonels as an assistant coach. For the past four years his primary responsibilities have been to work with the outfielders and to assist with the infielders and as a batting instructor. In 2009 Foster was offered and accepted the head coaching position of the Colonels’ newly formed 16U team.



Brad Arlinghaus- Brad was a first baseman/pitcher for the Colonels from 1997 through 1999. Brad is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and teaches at Conner High School where he also serves as Head Varsity Baseball Coach. This is Brad’s sixth year on the staff and he works closely with the Colonel’s first basemen and serves as first base coach.






Bill Horvath - Becky - 3 sons - Michael, Stephen, Patrick - Graduated U. of Dayton - Retired from American Airlines after 38 years of service.

Bill has been involved in coaching youth sports for more than 25 years. For the past 7 years, he has coached with The Cincinnati Future Stars in Harrison, Ohio. Since his retirement in 2005, he has also been a coach on the baseball staff at St. Henry District High School in Erlanger, Ky. This is Bill’s first year with the Colonels and we welcome the wealth of knowledge he brings to the program.




Scotty Buckler- Scott was a first baseman/pitcher for the Colonels on the ‘99/’00 teams. He graduated in 2008 with a B.A. in Psychology from Northern Kentucky University. Scott’s prior coaching experience includes five years in the Dixie Knothole summer baseball program as well as with the Ryle High School baseball program. Scott is a versatile coach and his prior coaching experience at the youth level should prove invaluable to the assistance he can lend to our new 16 year old program. Scott is an outstanding addition to the KC coaching staff and we welcome him into our program.



Josh Bleser- Josh was a first baseman/pitcher for the Colonels from 2005 through 2007. Josh attended Covington Catholic High School where he lettered 4 years in baseball and 3 years in football. He attended Campbellsville University for 1 ½ years where he played both baseball and football. He will be attending the University of Louisville beginning in the Spring of 2009 and majoring in Business Management. This is Josh’s first year on the staff with the Colonels.
