League Overview

Teams and Players
The LGSA consists of the following number of teams at each age group:
6U T Ball - 6 teams (Boys and Girls)
8U Coach Pitch - 11 teams
10U Fastpitch - 15 teams
12U Fastpitch - 13 teams
14U Fastpitch - 10 teams
18U Fastpitch - 7 teams
With a total of 62 teams and close to 850 players, the LGSA is a LARGE operation. Girls (and t ball boys)from the age of 4 through 19 particpate in the LGSA.
Players and Communities involved in the LGSA
The League is open to players from Fairfield and Surrounding counties and we have players from the following communities particpating in the LGSA: Lancaster, Bremen, Amanda, Logan, Rockbridge, Rushville, Pleasantville, Circleville, Laurelville, Baltimore, Carroll, Johnstown, Newark, Grove City, Thornville, Enterprise, Sugar Grove, Millersport, Canal Winchester and Columbus
Regular Season Games
During the Regular LGSA season and the LGSA League tournaments Martens Park will host nearly 500 softball games.
Tournaments
In addition to LGSA League play, the LGSA also host 3 MAJOR weekend tournaments. During each these tournament weekends nearly 100 games are played at Martens, Kiwanis and Miller Parks
Travel Teams
The LGSA ELITE Travel program is operating for divsions U8 through U16.We will be looking to expand our travel program in the coming year (2009). This program allows LGSA teams to travel and compete in tournaments throughout Ohio. There is an additonal cost for these teams.

Martens Park
Martens Park has hosted the LGSA for close to 20 years. The Concession Stand / Shelter House, Outfield fences, split rail fence, side fences, backstop improvements, dugouts, paving of dugouts, scorborads, sposnor board, storage buildings, electrical improvements have all been paid for and put in place by the LGSA.
The LGSA has it's own Diamond "rig" and field maintenance equipment. This enables games to be played at Martens when other parks cancel.
This is done with proceeds from our fundraisers: primarily income from the candy sale and concession stand.
It should be noted that once improvement are completed they become property of the City of Lancaster - Parks Department..
League Expenses
Here is a list of some of the items the LGSA purchases to run the League. This list is not all inclusive and is meant to highlight items NEEDED to run a softball league.
70 Dozen softballs for games (not including practice balls)
Diamond Dry (used to make diamonds safe and ready for games)
200 Helmets w/ facemask
Miscellaneous Equipment - T's, Throw Down Bases, Gear bags, etc
Scorecards
Bases for Martens. including home plate and pitchers mounds
Clay, Sand, Dirt
Gravel for lot
Uniforms are provided to players in Divisons U6 through U18. The uniform includes, shirt, shorts, socks and hat/visor.
