Baymen Storm Rules 2009
Practice- (2009) Listed is 2009 Spring practice times. Summer . practice will depend on field availblity, Monday 5:30 and Saturday 10:30.
"Fall Season" practices will be one weekday and one weekend practice.
Parents please be to field ½ hour prior to the end of scheduled practice time. All players are expected to be at all practices.
When playing for the school team in the spring, school team comes first. If a player is not at practice the player must call coach Rich (cell 631-255-7662, Home 631-232-0885).
When School and religion conflicts with practice, I expect your child to meet their religion and school requirements.
All other functions, the Baymen must come first. In House baseball, basketball ect., games or practices, are not good reasons to miss practice.
No matter what the reason call Rich if a practice or game will be missed.
· Drinks- Please remember to bring a drink for your child to practice and games.
· Athletic Cups- Athletic Cups must be worn at all practices and games. INDOOR OR OUTDOOR, NO CUP NO PLAY
· Shorts- Do not wear shorts to outdoor practice.
· Games- Please arrive to home away games 45 minuets early. Directions to fields are always on www.nationaljunior.com .
·Rainouts - Always check your e-mail and website prior to going to a game or practice especially if the weather is suspect (rain, high winds, very cold ect.)If you do not receive an e-mail, cancellation is not posted on web site or you did not receive a phone call- The practice or game is still on.
Remember it may be raining by your home or office, but it could be clear where we are playing. Some times we may get to the field and find out it is not playable.
· Field help- -Home games “field help” is always needed especially when we have the early games, and on days after it rained, it is especially needed. For a nine o’clock game coaches arrive at the field at seven-thirty am. Help is needed and is appreciated.
· Playing time- Coach's determine playing time and positions. There is NO - guarantee of innings or positions of players. Never ask about playing time or batting order during a game or after a game. If you feel you must discuss you childs playing time , please wait to call a day after the game. If your child’s playtime becomes an issue then the “Baymen Storm” may not be the answer for you and your child.
· Spot in hitting order- - The coaches make the lineup. There will be no discussions on where your child bats in the line up.
· Food- -No food on the bench!!, please plan lite food for the time between games.
· Bench area- Parents and siblings are not permitted in dugouts. All the players must clean bench area after games.
· After game- After each practice and game the coaches like to talk to the players about some key issues in the game or practice. After the players clean the dugout, pack their bags we will meet as a team. Please make sure that your child does not leave prior to the discussion. These discussions do not last long and I feel that they are very important. If you have an important engagement and must leave immediately please let a Coach know.
· In House League- I recommend that all players do not play an in house league. We play a lot of baseball through out the year. Appox 75 games and about 75 practices. If a player does decide to play in-house remember: 1) Baymen practices do take priority over in-house games. 2) I don’t want to hear about it.
· Other travel teams- If you play for the Baymen Storm it must be a full commitment, No playing for other travel teams.
· Fund raisers- The only fundraiser that the Baymen 14 Storm are planning are the March 7th Fundraiser, Fall Journal, Comedy night and Super Bowl pool. No other fundraisers are planed we will pay as we play! See 2009 plans. (More fundraiser are open for review)
Pleasae keep in mind that Fundraiser reduce the cost of tournaments, to date we have not had anyone pay for a tournament. Fundraiser are saving about $500 per year per player.
· Spring, Summer, Fall and winter workouts- Commitment is expected for all 4 seasons.
· Tournaments/ Games / Vacations - If you are going to miss a tournament or game I need to know in advance. This does not mean the Wednesday before; I need to know when you know. Tournaments are expensive and are high profile we need full commitment. Please try to plan accordantly. All players must e-mail me planned vacation ASAP. Please do not tell me verbally, I will forget! I do need the days that your child is not available; this comes in handy when I reschedule a game. If 4 players are not available on a certain date I will not reschedule the game for that day. E-mail me with these dates once they are available to you.
· School Ball -Players that make the school team are expected to give school ball first priority. Please make sure that you tell the Coaching staff in advance the days you child pitches. Please make a Coach you first call on days that your child pitches in a school game.
· Attitude - The Baymen Pride themselves on a good attitude. Players and the player’s parents on this team must demonstrate good attitude. If a player or a player parent shows a poor sportsmanship like attitude the player and parent will be warned once. The second occurrence the player will be dismissed from the team (no refund). First occurrence of foul language and taunting other teammates/ opposing players will not be tolerated and the player will be asked to leave.
· What it means to be a Baymen -The Baymen always select a special ballplayer. We look for good attitude and coach-able ballplayers. We look for ballplayers that love the game like no others. Very few play any other sports. Players on this team should make every practice and game. No questions asked.
Thank you,
Coach Rich
