Previous Team Messages

March 24, 2008

The tournaments we agreed on were:

Missoula -                   June 6 - 8
Great Falls -                June 13-15
Bozeman -                  June 20 - 22
Helena -                     June 27 - 29
State - Kalispell           July  10 - 13

I had a unanimous vote for the Missoula Tournament.

There is a tournament the weekend in May before Memorial weekend.  It is called the spring fling.   If we have five MWC players who want to play, I will pick up enough players to play in that tournament.   We won't use team funds for it, and those who play will have to split the entry fee, but we can go there if our pitching staff wants to play that weekend.   Let me know soon what your wishes are.

Because of soccer and league softball, I am not planning on scheduling practices for MWC 14-U travel team until after memorial day, although I am hoping to have two hitting clinics at Petersen's between now and June.   I do expect the pitchers that have been working out to keep working hard between now and June.  Everyone else should be playing catch with their mom or dad, and should work hard on hitting when the opportunity arises.

I would like to see us get more sponsor money in the treasury.   We only have for or five sponsors for the 14-U team.   We have some administrative costs like ASA registration, team insurance, miscellaneous costs like a first aid kit and some other costs like lineup cards and that sort of thing.   If Rizor sports comes through we will be in great shape, but it would be nice to have some extra money ready to use for the purchase of bags and shoes through Rizor sports like our agreement states we will.  We won't move on those purchases until we see whether they keep their end of the bargain.

Have fun in league season and I will be around watching, cheering and coaching when I can.

See you soon.

Shane Shaw

In three months, we will begin playing summer travel ball.  It will be here before you know it!   It is time to get ready.   Everyone should take advantage of playing on a league team.   Each of our pitchers should make sure they get an opportunity to pitch.   If your team has more than one pitcher, ask to be on a team that does not have a pitcher.   All of you need to work on throwing mechanics and basic hitting skills.   MWC will have a couple of hitting clinics for our team in the next two months.   Watch the web site for details.  IT IS TIME TO PLAY BALL!!!

From Coaches Shane and Rick.

December 3, 2007
The 14-U team is now full with eleven players committed to the team for summer 2008.

Great progress is being made concerning fund raising. Collision Pro has donated sponsorship money and Mountain West Bank has committed to the organization as a sponsor. In addition, Coach Trenary has secured a $4,000 grant for Crush 14-U. We will be in touch soon regarding equipment and uniforms.

We will have a short meeting to choose uniform styles and to try on uniforms soon.

DON'T FORGET THAT THE PLAYER COMMITMENT FEE FOR 14-U IS $100 AND IS DUE BY JANUARY 1ST, 2008.

November 8, 2007

Over the next months, MWC will be seeking additional sponsors to help defray team costs for entry fees and equipment. MWC will sell spots on a team banner that will be displayed on the field where the team plays. Contact Shane Shaw or Greg Trenary for information. Details as to what a place on the banner will cost will be forthcoming soon. In addition to Rizor Sports, Collision Pros has already committed to sponsoring the teams for the summer.

November 5, 2007

The 14-U team organizational meeting was held on November 5th, 2007 at Capital High School. Players who turned their information forms in to coach Shaw were added to the team roster. Each player will be put in the web site roster when the player information form is turned in either to Coach Shaw or Coach Dorvall. The team commitment fee is $100 and is due by January 1, 2008.

October 27, 2007

To 14-U players and parents. Don't forget the parents and players meeting Now moved to Capital High School on November 5th at 8:00 p.m. If you have an invitation to play on the 14-U team and don't see your name on the team roster, you can contact Coach Shane Shaw at 458-8658 or at joelshw@msn.com and verify that you are committing to that team. We will be asking for commitment to the team soon so we can begin working on scheduling, uniforms, more sponsors and all of the other things that go into a softball season. Players on the team are currently by invitation only. No tryout is planned. If those currently invited decide not to play, other girls will be considered. No waiting list will be compiled.
