    Head Caoch/General Manager- Jerry Lehman
February 3, 2009  --   Coach Jerry Lehman is the founder of the Newport Beach Storm in 2002 and is located in Orange County California. Lehman coached the Storm to a 221 wins and 63 losses since 2002 with (3) World Championships, (8) Tournament Championships and (6) AWBL League Titles and a 2009 PCBL Title. Since 2002 Lehman has been responsible for (47) players being signed to the Professional level through referrals and relationships he has built with Scouts and Professional coaches. Lehman works closely with former Major League players and Coaches such as Gary Templeton, Gary Carter, Darrell Evans, Gary Carter and Cory Snyder and has built a reputation as having a great eye for talent.

Coach Lehman started playing at the age of 11 years old in Northern California after playing Football for 3 years decided to try something new. Lehman excelled quickly on the ball field and in his second year of playing Little League became an All-Star and has ever since. Lehman attended Clayton Valley HS in Concord CA and made the Varsity team as a sophomore and played his sophomore and Junior year at Clayton valley HS. After baseball was over his junior year he was forced to move to Houston Texas where he attended Cypress Creek HS. Lehman walked on and had to beat out one of the three 4 year starters to make the team which he did through hard work and determination. Lehman was voted to All- League honors in the outfield and led the league in Steals, Outfield assists and Triples and finished with a team leading .429 BA. Lehman caught the attention of local Universities and Pro Scouts and was offered a full ride the UT Austin in 1984. Lehman accepted the offer and had plans to attend in the fall but was slammed with bad news. The love of his life was killed in a car accident that summer and Lehman made the decision to move back to California and give up baseball for good. Lehman than found the love for Surfing and became a professional surfer in 1989 and traveled the world competing each week but never received high rankings so he decided to retire the surfboard and get a real job.

In 1999 Lehman found baseball again through a friend and has been playing ever since. Since 1999 Lehman has racked up a 91-25 pitching record, with 703 Inn's pitched, 732 K's, 221 BB, a 2.20 ERA, (1) World Championship Win, a 18-9 World Championship record and a National Tournament record of 30-12. Lehman as a Switch-Hitter has a lifetime batting average of .430, (3) League MVP Awards, (4) Batting Titles (2) AWBL Pitcher of the Year Awards, (2) NO HITTERS, (3) Home Run Derby titles, (2) All-Star Game MVP Awards and some League Records which still stand today. In 2009 Lehman achieved something that not many pitchers have ever done by throwing 55 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball at the age of 43 which just ended on May 17th 2009 in the Championship game with his Storm team.

In 2003 at the age of 37 Lehman played in his first professional baseball game in the Industrial League in Ensenada Mexico. In his first season with the Scorpiones (Scorpions) Lehman batted .356 with 2 Hr’s and had a pitching record of 3-1 and made the front page of the Ensenada Newspaper by shutting out the number one team in the league (Octopus). Over a (4) year Pro Career Lehman finished with a .312 BA, 14 hr, 58 Rbi’s and a 14-6 Pitching Record and a 3.86 ERA.

Lehman now enjoys working with young talent by coaching and training and getting them to the professional level. Lehman has coached and trained many pitchers and players who were drafted in the MLB draft and his current pitching talent "Aaron Northcraft" (Mater Dei High School) is projected to be drafted in Round 2 or 3 in this years June draft. Over his (7) year coaching career Lehman has had (47) players signed to pro contracts and (8) players drafted in the top twenty rounds, three of which were in the top three rounds.

In 2009 Lehman was hired by the "Victoria Seals" Professional baseball team which is in the Golden Independent baseball league (GBL). Lehman worked under former major league player and coach "Darrell Evans" and helped the Seals just fall short of the play-offs in their first season.

Lehman also in 2008 was the oldest contestant in the history of the Spike TV show "Pro's vs. Joe's which you can still view on Spike.com today and made it to the overtime round (Final 3) and lost by 13 seconds.

Lehman is now in the process of building an innovative new Baseball recruiting web site which is set to launch by Jan 2010. Stay tuned!!
