An affiliation between Northeast and the Junior Celtics was approved at a junior meeting on Wednesday, September 3.

The Junior Celtics is a junior B team which operates within the St. John’s Junior Hockey League. The League, in its 26th year in operation, consists of eight teams of junior age players (17 to 21 years of age). They include St. John’s Caps, Avalon, Junior Celtics, CBR, CBN, Mount Pearl, Southern Shore and Bell Island.

For anyone who may have missed registration on Saturday we will be also holding 2 more sessions at the JB Arena on Tuesday, September 15 and Wednesday, September 16 from 6-8pm.

NEMHA will organize a used hockey equipment sale this Saturday, Sept 19 in the community room of Jack Byrne Arena from 12:00 - 2:00PM. Buy, sell, or trade your used hockey equipment. The event will operate much like a Flea Market….Members wishing to sell hockey gear will be provided with table space.

Newfoundland and Labrador's Aboriginal Hockey Team are seeking all interested players interested in trying out for the 2010 National Aboriginal Hockey Championship. Players of Bantam and Midget age born in the years of 1991 to 1995 are eligible.

The NAHC provide a forum for elite Bantam/Midget age Aboriginal hockey players, which attracts participation from First Nations, Inuit, and Métis within each of the thirteen Provinces and Territories of Canada. The long-term vision for the NAHC is to establish a competitive structure that will serve as the impetus for grassroots and regional Aboriginal hockey development. The event will help foster cultural unity and pride and celebrate the athletic abilities of Aboriginal athletes from across the country.

The NAHC are designed as an elite, all-star format where the best Bantam/Midget age hockey players are selected to compete on behalf of their Provinces and Territories. The event is inclusive, which means anyone of Aboriginal ancestry, whether First Nations (status or non-status Indian), Inuit or Métis, is eligible to compete.

The atom team will be involved in the Atom Ice Breaker Tournament. Players are to be dressed and ready 10 minutes before gametime.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Round 3 and 4 Game Schedule will not be set until late Saturday, October 3rd to ensure that meaningful and/or strong match-ups occur and inter-club games are avoided. The Schedule will be posted to www.tricom.sport.ca Rounds 3 & 4 will be played on Sunday, October 4th at Smallwood Arena between 8am and 8pm.

The strong effort from all the players trying out for our Peewee All-Star team is making it very difficult for the evaluators to finalize the team. Our plan is to release a number of players after Tuesday night's game. I like to point out that all of the players are quite capable of playing all-star hockey , unfortunately there are only 17 positions available. Every player should be extremely proud of their effort.

The remaining names will be posted on the website Tuesday night and these players are requested to attend the final tryout scheduled for Wednesday Oct 7 from 7-8 pm. The team will be posted on Wednesday night after the final tryout. The resulting team is scheduled to participate in the Peewee Ice Breaking Tournament this coming weekend.

There will be a camp for the Eastern Zone Midget Team to held at Brother O'Heir area .This camp will take place at the following times ,Friday ,Oct 16th, 7:30 -8:30,Saturday Oct. 17th, 5:30 -6:30,Saturday, October 24th, 5:30 --6:30 and Saturday, October, 31st. 2009 at Brother O'Heir Area.
The registration fee is $45.00 per player. This is a try out camp to select one of the two teams to represent the Eastern Zone at a provincial play down tournament January 8-10th, 2010.

This is open to players from the following associations: St. John's,, Avalon, Goulds, Mt. Pearl, Bell Island, Northeast, Southern Shore, CBR and Trepassey . The winning team will represent Newfoundland and Labrador at the Atlantic Championships to be held in Gander from March 18--21st, 2010. Players must be 15-17 as of Dec. 31st, 2009.

Players must be registered and playing on Female Teams in associations where female teams are available. In associations where no female program is offered players may register and tryout in their approiate Zone. Players may tryout for only one Midget Regional Team---Either Male or Female.

There will be a tryout camp for the Female Eastern Zone Bantam Atlantic Team to be held at Twin Rinks .

This camp will take place on Saturday Oct. 24th from 7--9 pm at Twin Rinks #2.The third time will be announced later this week and at the camp. The registration fee is $40.00 per player.

The purpose of this camp is to select one of the two teams to represent the Eastern Zone at a provincial play down tournament to be held January 15--17th, 2010 in Whitbourne.

This is open to players from the following associations: St. John's, Avalon, Goulds, Mt. Pearl, Bell Island, Northeast, Southern Shore, CBR and Trepassey .

The winning team will represent Newfoundland and Labrador at an Invitational Tournament in P.E.I.. Dates for this tournament will be announced later.

Players must be13-14 as of Dec. 31st, 2009.
Players must be registered and playing on Female Teams in associations where female teams are available. In associations where no female program is offered players may register and tryout in their appropriate Zone. All players must be registered with a Minor Hockey Association to attend these tryouts.
