The North Waltham Baseball League celebrated it’s 50th year of providing an outstanding baseball program to the youths of Waltham in 1995
. Our league is dedicated to teaching the fundamentals of baseball and sportsmanship to all children ages 5 through 12 regardless of ability. The North Waltham Baseball League (NWBL) is affiliated with the Cal Ripkin Division of Babe Ruth Baseball which offers four divisions of play based on the age of the player. In 1995 we had over 400 children participating in our league.

T-Ball Division- For the beginning players with ages of 5 and 6. The emphasis is on teaching the players the fundamentals of baseball in a fun and non- competitive environment. All hitting is done from Tees and each inning every player bats through the order. The coaches are usually parents who have children in this division. We have 8 T-Ball teams which meet once a week on weekends. The Playing season starts in late April and continues through June.

Junior Minor Division – For the beginning and returning players ages 6 and 7. Hitting is done from both Tees and soft toss pitching from a team coach. Base Running and fielding drills are used to prepare the players for advancement into the competitive Minor and Major league teams. Games are played in a non- competitive environment. No team standings are kept at this level of play.

Minor League Division – Offers a competitive game schedule for players ages 8 through 10. The emphasis is on teaching the players how to play baseball in a competitive environment. A 17 game schedule is played followed by playoff rounds. Regular Little league baseball rules are followed. Games are played on both weekdays at 5:30 and on weekends. Generally there are two or three games a week. Pitchers are limited to pitching 6 innings in a 7 day period. No leading or base stealing is allowed in this division.

Major Leaguue Division – Offers a competitive game schedule for players ages 10 through 12. Base stealing and bunting is allowed at this level of play.

Open registration for all divisions takes place in September and October of each year for the following years season. Minor and Major league players are drafted to teams in November.

Our playing facilities are located on Lake Street in Waltham, Massachusetts and include three playing fields, a concession stand and visitors' seating areas. Thanks to the hard work of many league volunteers, our playing fields are among the best in the surrounding Waltham area.
