Four Potter Mites Advance to Ohio Grade School State Tournament!
On March 6,2004 four Potter Mites wrestled at Ohio Grade School Districts in Stuebenville, OH at St. Johns Arena.The Top 4 places advance to state, with 5th place serving as an alternate.Placement went like this:
80lbs Dylan Ice, District Champion!!
45lbs Alex Potts,3rd Place!!
65lbs Kaleb Riggle,4th Place!!
55lbs Frank Williams,5th place!!

Mr. Potter Mite is the Most Elite Award that a Potter Mite can get.The wrestlers work all season to be considered for this award.Mr. Potter Mite has many criteras that a wrestler must meet, then voted on by the coaching staff.Dylan is this years winner of the award, Dylans hard work and dedication to the sport of wrestling is only beginning, even though he has seven years of wretling under his shoes already.Dylan is also an Honor-roll student in school.Dylan will be moving up to the JR. High level next season.Dylan congratulations on such a great season, and being this years MR. POTTER MITE.Best to you! As you grow in the sport of Wrestling.

East Liverpool wrestlers take part in Ohio Grade School State wrestling Tournament and with Alex Potts Placing 6th at Div1 50#.
Alex Potts, Cody Oiler, Frank Williams,Kaleb Riggle& Mike Mercer all wrestled at Bowling Green State University on April 2,3, 2005. All wrestlers went out with at least a 2-2 record.Alex brought home a 6th place finish. It was a well run and exciting tournament. ESPN was there doing taping for a show to be aired in the future.I would like to say GREAT JOB to all wrestlers and Coach Frank Williams and Coach Mike Mercer on such a great experience.

Dakota Ice, Alex Potts, Frank Williams, Kaleb Riggle, Mike Mercer, Dylan Ice, Josh Coil, and Joe Coil.
Alex Potts placed 7th at midget 52#.
The tournament was held in Columbus , Ohio and is known as "The largest one day tournament in the world". There was over 3,400 wrestlers at this event ,wrestlers covering from the West Coast to the East Coast!

The East Liverpool Potter Mites wrestled at South Side in a Varsity Dual Meet Tournament on Sunday, January 18, 2004.There was six teams wrestling and the East Liverpool Potter Mites took Third place as a team with a 3-2 record.The East Liverpool Potter Mites had Nine wrestlers place in the top three and they received medals.
1st Place finishers were 43lbs Alex Potts, HWT Rob Rowe.
2nd Place finishers were 53lbs Frank Williams, 88lbs Dylan Ice.
3rd Place finishers were 78lbs Preston Foster, 83lbs Matt Hawken, 98lbs Mike Buchheit, 110lbs Zach Madison, 144lbs Chris Tatgenhorst.

East Liverpool Wrestlers get ready for Ohio Tournament Of Champions!
Some East Liverpool Wrestlers are going to Columbus , Ohio For the Tournament Of Champions on April 24,2004.This tournament a wrestler must qualify for through out the season.There is over 3,200 entries for the tournament.This is The Largest One Day Tournament in The World.Making the trip from East Liverpool will be
Zach Radcliffe,Alex Potts,Caleb Radcliffe,Toni Potts,Frank Williams,Kaleb Riggle,Mat Hawken,Alex Morris, Dylan Ice and Rob Rowe.Best to all wrestlers in Columbus!!This tournament will close out the folkstyle wrestling tournaments for the season.

After the run the potter mites along with the High School and JR High wrestlers go to the warf and give Turkeys out to the one whos name is drawn, Potter Mites won all turkeys but one.They also have punch and sports drinks for the wrestlers.

Here is some pictures of Father and Son who ran in the annual Turkey trot on Thanksgiving Day!The Potter Mites run in the Turkey Trot which is Five miles from Oakmont Plaza to Chester WVa.The run started out at 8am it was cold and snowing/raining and 20 wrestlers along with Family and friends made the trip on turkey day!Click on Turkey trot on the left to see all the dedicated runners, good job Potter Mites!

Six East Liverpool Wrestlers wrestled in Tulsa, Oklahoma for The Cliff Keen Kick-off Classic!Wrestlers were Austin Mayfield,Alex Potts,Frank Williams, Mike Mercer, Kaleb Riggle, and Dylan Ice.Alex Potts placed 4th in his Weight class.GREAT JOB to all wrestlers!The wrestlers also went to Cowboy Sharkies to eat were the photo was taken.There was more than 25 states representing and over 1200 wrestlers at this tournament.It is called the keenest tournament in the world, it kicks off the Folkstyle season!once again great job boys!

The Potter Mites are in the W.A.W.A wrestling league.And have schedule matches usually on Saturdays.Each wrestler at these meets are matched up to wrestle with in these areas: age, weight,and experience.Each wrestler usually gets 2 matches or more at a meet. No awards are given out at the meets. This is one of many league rules.1 point is given to a wrestler who attends these required meets(win or lose).The wrestler must have 5 points to attend the WAWA tournament at the end of the season,Which is a large league tournament that these kids really look foward to every year.You can find the by-laws, and other information on the WAWA league on there web site, you can view by clicking on links.Things the coaches are teaching our kids are many different skills, some include wrestling moves, wrestling holds, technique, character, sportsmanship, and the list goes on.These are things that make them better wrestlers on the mat and off the mat.

The Wrestling Parent
Parents in wrestling are courageous- its true
They feel all the pain that their boy must go through,
At home, when he diets, they wish it could stop,
Yet know he must do it to stay on top.
Excuses for losing they will never endure,
"Dont blame the Ref, son,because of the score,
The coach, he will show you the best way to move,
Keep working in practice if you want to improve."
At dual meets, you'll see them whispering a prayer,
As thier boy must compete with no one else there,
Whatever the out come- mom cheers with deep pride,
While Dad- you will notice- stands right by his side.
They'll drive to a tournament many miles away,
To witness a son who's prepared for his day,
Their boy, he has trained, with all his might,
Having hopes of becoming a Champion tonight.
But should he fall short, at his corner you'll find,
A mother and father- supportive and kind,
They teach that through wrestling he'll learn in life,
Yes, living is filled with both triumph and strife.
Now if your serching for people who care,

Such love for a sport is truly inherent,
