Creating the Individual Player
Focusing on the individual player is the priority of the PVYA coaching staff.
Growing a creative player is the focus within our player development strategies.
To this we need to focus our efforts on the ball skills a player needs to be a successful soccer player. You will notice a great deal of foot skills being taught at the younger age groups to include the basics of passing, trapping, dribbling, and moves (Faints and Fakes). These all lead to being able to teach Techniques and Tactics of team play. More and more, we as coaches, are told to have practices with all the players involved in the sessions and to get as many touches on the ball as you can. With this in mind, the players become more comfortable when the ball is played to them and the fear of "what do I do now" grows to "look at the options I have".
I am pleased to be a part of this organization and the Director of Player Development. If you have any questions at all feel free to contact me on the field or off.
Looking forward to a great future for PVYA.
