MEET COACH LEE
Coach Chris Lee’s baseball career has been one of unparalleled success. Chris was an Oregon All State catcher and 1st Baseman at South Umpqua High School. In 1980 South Umpqua advanced all the way to State Championship game and in 1981 the team made it to the quarterfinals.
Coach Lee played for Dr. Stewarts Triple A legion baseball team in Roseburg and won the State Championship in 1981. That same team finished 3rd in the regional finals.
Chris went on to play at Umpqua Community College, and in 1982 that team went to the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. He finished his playing career in 1985 at Western Oregon University.
Chris Lee became Coach Lee in 1984 during a break in his playing career when he became an assistant baseball coach at Umpqua Community College. He became a head baseball coach in the summer of 1992 and coached at the Triple A level of American Legion Baseball. During his American Legion career he achieved a winning percentage of .664% and led North Salem American Legion teams to State titles in 1999, 2001, 2003 and 2004.
Today Coach Lee is the head varsity baseball coach at North Salem High School and has amassed a winning percentage of .689% including Valley League Championships in 2001, 2004 and 2006. 2007 will be Coach Lee's fourth year in Junior Baseball of Oregon and his fourth as a Coach with the North Salem Vikings. Chris Lee is also the Vice-President of the North Salem Junior Baseball Association.
Coach Lee chooses to coach Junior Baseball of Oregon because he wants his son and other players to play by the rules they will be using the rest of their playing careers. Coach Lee grew up playing by these rules and feels Junior Baseball of Oregon offers competitive play with challenging guidelines and approaches.
The North Salem Vikings are very fortunate to have a coach of Chris Lee’s skills and abilities.
