WCAA to Follow Dixie Youth & Dixie Boys Rules for General Play
November 18, 2008  --   The WCAA will affiliate with the national Dixie Youth Baseball, Dixie Boys Baseball.

As such, general game play will be conducted under the rules of these programs found online at www.dixie.org.

Some rules to highlight include:

1. Safety is top concern.
- The WCAA will expect runners slide feet first into any base where a close play to avoid full speed collisions. A head first slide, (except when lunging back to a base on a lead off) is prohibited by Dixie rule.
- Helmets with facemask and chinstrap are required.
- Only Dixie League approved bats (must have it written on the bat)
- 20 minute rule on lighting, unless a league official uses doppler radar.
- No throwing of bats. A warning is traditional, but umpire has a right to eject any player on first occurrence of a thrown bat.
- Rubber cleats are required in Dixie Youth Baseball Divisions, and preferred in the Dixie Boys and Boys Major divisions.

2. Innings Pitched - it is important to ensure young arms are rested, and as such the WCAA will adhere to regular and post season limits on the number of innings a player may pitch in a week.

3. Minimum Participation - Dixie Rules will apply

4. Rotation - All players in the T-ball and AA instructional divisions are expected to rotate between positions. Except for the catcher, no player may play a single position more than two innings in a row, and each player must play an infield and an outfield position within a normal six inning game. This rule may be lifted for intra-league tournament play.

Only Players, Managers, and Coaches Allowed in Dugouts
November 18, 2008  --   We have been blessed with a very nice facility at the new Wesley Chapel District Park. Unfortunately, its design of the dugouts is very open and inviting in nature, and seems to attract anyone to come in and take a seat during practices and games.

The WCAA supports the requirement by the Pasco County Parks & Recreation department to perform background checks on all adults that interact with the players, and thus must ensure that only Managers, Coaches, and Team Moms (in the T-ball division) are cleared to be on the fields and in the dugouts.

Rule: Only league officials, players, adult managers, assistant coaches, and team mom (t-ball division only) may be in the dugout or on the field during a WCAA game or practice.

The WCDP offers bleachers and space for parents and siblings to relax and have a good time while their favorite players practice and play on the diamonds.

The WCAA will offer an exciting format this spring for the T-ball season. Players will be put in a format that promotes getting the ball in play and active listening while running the basepaths while on offense, and it encourages the defense to pursue throwing to a base or tagging the runner to get an out, and quickly getting the ball into the infield to stop the advancement of runners.

This division will only accept enrollment for 5 and 6 year olds.
