Chris Lun, Varsity Head Coach (4th year, 54-22 overall)
In his second year with the Vikings, Coach Lun led Whitman to a 24-3 record and the first state title in the school’s 43-year history. The Vikings finished the 2005-2006 season ranked #3 in the Washington Post. He was named the 2006 Coach of the Year by the Washington Post, the Gazette, the DC Examiner, and the Washington Metropolitan Boys Basketball Hall of Fame. Lun has guided Whitman to a 54-22 record in his three seasons as head coach. The Vikings have reached the regional semifinals in each of those seasons.
Lun was the 1997 Penn State-Mont Alto Male Athlete of the Year, averaging 14.1 ppg in his two years as a shooting guard for the Mountain Lions. He received a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Penn State University in 1999 and a Masters in Elementary Education from Johns Hopkins in 2005. He is a 6th-grade math teacher at North Bethesda Middle School. Lun is a 1995 graduate of Seneca Valley High School in Germantown.
