B) Attend the Wallkill Valley Area’s school system and be enrolled in K through 7th grade as of September, 2008
c) Cheer for the Wallkill Valley Rangers Youth Basketball League
D) Not participate on another competitive cheer squad (REC)
e) Complete the sports physical form and have it signed by your doctor
Duration of the Competition Cheerleading Squad Season:
· Competition season extends from August through to the National Competition in addition to choreography and practice requirements below
· Local competitions are generally held either every weekend or every other weekend (Saturday or Sunday) starting in November.
· Attendance at both the Local and National Competitions are mandatory.
EXPENSES: There are separate expenses associated with participation on the Competition Squad. Please see our competition cost sheet for more details. Those expenses include:
· Registration fees
· Choreography - The cost of the Choreography will be offset with the help of fundraising.
· Clothing items (including sneakers, spankie pants, socks, crop-tops, bows, and hair pieces) These items can be purchased with the help of fundraising.
Attendance at all practices is mandatory. Please note that we will make every effort to schedule practices around all school team schedules to the extent it is possible. We cannot, however, avoid all possible conflicts. Illness, injury, and school matters are considered to be excusable absences. However, any absence from a practice must first be approved by a Competition Coach in advance of the practice. If notification is not provided to the Coach prior to the practice, the absence is automatically considered unexcused. If a child has more than one unexcused absence, the Coach will review the matter with the Board of Directors. Possible actions may include benching or removal from the squad. All Board decisions are final.
DISCIPLINE:
· Any disrespect towards teammates or coaches will not be tolerated.
· A child will receive one warning before action is taken by the Coaching staff.
· If a discipline problem is ongoing, the child may be removed from the Squad. Disciplinary decisions will be made by the Wallkill Valley Rangers Youth Basketball League Board of Directors under the direction and recommendations of the Dream Team Coaches. All Board decisions are final.
FUNDRAISING:
· In order to support the squad and assist families with the cost of our competitions, numerous fund-raising activities will be held throughout the year. In other words, the more money we raise, the more we can offer the children. We will have several fundraisers throughout the year. Some of those will include a Tricky Tray, Pasta Family Fun Night, Bake Sale, Car Wash, Coffee Can Donations and the Hosting a Cheerleading Competition. Attendance, participation and volunteering on the part of the parents and cheerleaders are MANDATORY.
COMMITMENT:
· Participation on the Competition Squad requires a significant level of COMMITMENT.
· If your child participates in another sport or activity, cheerleading must be her PRIORITY.
· The choreography of our cheer dance is designed to the specific number of girls on our Squad. We do not have ‘substitutes’ or ‘alternates’ that we can ask to fill in if your child is absent.
· Excellence is not achieved by accident. It is accomplished through dedication and commitment exemplified through full attendance at scheduled practices, camps, clinics and competitions.
