2013 BIG SANDY YOUTH FOOTBALL

The program is in collaboration with Big Sandy ISD Athletics and offers several enhancements focused on development and preparation of young athletes for upper level sports. Coaches and coordinators will work directly with Big Sandy ISD football staff, including a coaches' clinic, in continued pursuit to offer a complete athletics program.  The football program is designed in 3 levels to continually move players forward at a pace and in a environment cinducive with learning and developing.

Level 1-Flag football for grades 1st-2nd; emphasis on establishing, developing, & advancing fundamentals allowing youth opportunity to master basic skill sets in preparation for developmental division.

Level 2-Limited contact-developmental division for 3rd-4th.  This division is played as 7 on 7 or 9 on 9 with continued focus on fundamentals.  Additionally players will learn the next level of football with more complex formations, plays, and rules.  In this division flags are used instead of tackle; however, there is contact through a modified form of blocking.  The element of physicality is added but at a level players can still focus on learning and developing in preparation for tackle football.

Level 3-Tackle football for grades 5th-6th; emphasis on continuing to advance fundamentals while adding proper instruction and application of full contact in preparation for school level football.

BIG NEWS, THIS YEAR WE WILL BE IN A NEW LEAGUE WITH SIMILAR SIZE SCHOOLS THAT INCLUDES HAWKINS, SABINE, ARP, & OVERTON.

Registration: 

·         Register during camp or at parent meeting.

·         Tackle $55 early registration or $65 late registration.

o   INCLUDES JERSEY, SHOULDER PADS, PRESEASON CAMP, LEAGUE, & YR END AWARDS.

o   PLAYERS MUST PROVIDE CERTIFIED WHITE HELMET, PANTS W/LEG, HIP, & TAILBONE PADS, and CLEATS.

·         Flag $35 early registration or $45 late registration.

o   INCLUDES JERSEY, PRESEASON CAMP, LEAGUE, AND YEAR END AWARDS.

·         Deadline last day of preseason camp.

League age groups/divisions:

·         1st-2nd grade 5 on 5 flag.

·         3rd-4th grade 7 on 7 or 9 on 9 developmental (flag with limited contact).
