Lewiston and Porter Rainout Policy

The joys of living in the weather quaqmire which is Western New York!

Rainouts will be determined throughout the day by the Recreation Department.

The recreation Department will make its decision on field conditions and rain NO LATER THAN 5:00PM.

Head Coaches will receive an automated voice message from Mike Dashineau at around 5:10-5:15PM

If the weather makes a turn for the worse at 5:15, it will be up to the coaches and umpires to call the game with the assistance of the Recreation Directors (Mike Dashineau and Kim Cudmore)and their staff.

Some divisions may be canceled at certain sites, while others may still be on. A great example of this may be Starters and Boys Minors. The Starters' use of Pitching machines becomes dangerous with rain because of the slippery surface of the pitching machine. However, the umpires in the Boys Minors have better control over the rotation of baseballs and the ability to keep them dry, so we may cancel Starters and try to get Boys Minors in.

All games will be canceled on the website first. Coaches may call the weather line and then contact players. It is ultimately the parents responsibility to check the website or be at the field!

Any games away from Lewiston (Hyde Park, Grand Island) may also be moved in order to get the games in. Again, it is the players and parents responsibility to CHECK THE WEBSITE. Hyde Park may also be reached at their weatherline, 298-5406.

Please do not expect a phone call from the Recreation Department in the event of bad weather. With 51 teams, and 650 players, it is absolutely impossible for us to contact either all of the coaches or any of the players.

Please do not call Lewiston Town Hall for a weather update. Instead please call Your Head Coach for a weather update! Again, with 650 players in the league, and one director, you will find it both aggravating and nearly impossible to get in direct contact with me.

Again, it is the players and parents responsibility to check the website and contact the Head Coach!
