To play for our club you will need to attend one of the Palmyra Area Schools or be home/cyber schooled within the Palmyra Area School District boundary. Exceptions are made for Private schools at the Middle School level only.

The PIH club is a part of the Central Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey league (CPIHL). The CPIHL, in turn, is under the Atlantic Amateur Hockey Association (AAHA). We all fall under the USA Hockey (www.usahockey.com) umbrella just like in-house or travel hockey.

Our club is governed by the Executive Board consisting of a President, President-Elect, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, MS Team Manager, JV Team Manager and Varsity Team Manager. Each year the only E-Board position that requires a vote is the Vice President. The Vice President becomes the President-Elect in year two then President in year three. The Treasurer, Secretary, and Team Manager positions are appointed positions and do not require a club vote but require E-Board approval. Below are some E-Board position responsibilities:

President:

  • Oversee club/E-Board meetings
  • Budget
  • Oversee Committee chairs
  • Manage club operations

 President-Elect:

  • Liaison to CPIHL
  • Uphold CPIHL rules and regulations within the club

 Vice President:

  • Chairman of the Disciplinary committee
  • Plan and organize end of season banquet

Team Manager:

  • Team Liaison to E-Board
  • Organize game volunteer positions (Yellow Jacket, PointStreak Scorer, Time Clock and Penalty Box official)

As a part of the CPIHL, our teams will play teams from York, Lancaster, Harrisburg and Lebanon areas. Games are normally played at Klick-Lewis, Twin Ponds East (TPE), Twin Ponds West (TPW), York, Lancaster, and Hersheypark Arena. Historically, games have been on a Monday, Wednesday, Friday or Sunday evening. At the conclusion of the regular season, there is a playoff at the Varsity level only.

Club fees are set as soon as possible after the CPIHL sets their fees for the season. Historically, the fees are announced at the September club meeting. Payment for the upcoming season can begin as soon as your registration is received. Fees are due by November 30th . We encourage you to make regular payments starting after registration. Fees will vary year to year but usually do not change much. Most families do not like the one-time payment. The reason for the October 31st deadline is all league fees are due by the 2nd Thursday in November. Club fees include league fees, practice ice, and one CPIHL season pass. All other club expenses are paid for by the club's biggest fundraiser, the Sticks and Biscuits 5k. The annual Thanksgiving morning 5k also provides each player with a returning player credit to be used towards the following year’s fees, volunteering for the 5k is required to receive the credit. If you cannot help out the morning of the race there are plenty of opportunities to help prior to the day of the race. This fundraiser pays for all non-player related expenses as well. Any profit left over is distributed as a returning player credit for the following year’s fees.

Our club offers numerous fundraising opportunities. Participation in fundraising is completely voluntary. The profit you earn will go directly into your player account. Player account money can be used to pay club fees, season pass or spirit wear purchases. A copy of your player account status can be requested from the Club Treasurer at any time.

Club communication is done via the Palmyra Ice Hockey website and through email. Club emails are sent to inform the members of meetings, fundraising opportunities, schedules or any other important club or league news.

Where Does My Money Go?

Many hockey parents have “sticker shock” regarding the fees when their son/daughter first signs up to play.  Some parents know it is a very expensive sport, they just do not understand why.  Palmyra Ice Hockey’s registration fees are spent in the following ways:

  • Practice Ice$28,000/season
  • League Fees: $16,000/season

Each player receives 1 Player Pass and 1 Season Pass with his/her registration.  Additional season passes can be purchased for $30.  If you do not have a season pass, the League requires anyone over 6th grade to pay admission at the gate. There are no exceptions! Admission fees are not determined by Palmyra Ice Hockey Club.  The CPIHL determines what the admission fees will be for the season.  The monies collected at the gate are then submitted to the League.  If enough money is earned on the gate fees by the end of the season, the League usually waives the third club league payment.

If you have any questions regarding ANY of the fees mentioned above, please feel free to contact an Executive Board Member.
