Welcome to St. Edward’s CYO Basketball Page. 

Our CYO program is designed to provide all children residing within the St. Edwards community with the opportunity to participate in an organized basketball program.  The foundation of the program is to promote & teach basketball skills in a environment that emphasizes sportsmanship & fair play.  We welcome all children in our community from grades 1 through 12.  Below is a description of each of our programs.

Clinic Program

The Clinic Program introduces our K-2 grade children (Boys & Girls) to the game of basketball.  The Clinic, offered one day per week, provides one hour of instructional basketball (no games) per week.  Please note that the Clinic is available to only children in grades K-2. There are no exceptions to this rule.  There are typically 2-3 clinics run throughout the year and generally run for 8 or 10 weeks with a cost of $150.  

Intramural Program

St. Edward’s CYO intramural program is an innovative format that combines both a 3on3 format, which follows USA basketball and FIBA programs focusing on players skills development, and a 5on5 format. 

Travel Program

The Travel program is designed for players in grades 3 – 12 who are looking to participate in a more competitive environment. Players are selected to teams by try-outs.  Teams in the Travel program must adhere to the rules set forth by the Nassau-Suffolk County CYO.  The Travel teams will play teams from other Catholic parishes in Nassau or Suffolk County.  Travel teams play a 12 game schedule followed by playoffs for the top teams in each division.  There is normally one practice and one game per week although there could be multiple games in a week. • The Boys Travel Program will run from November through February.

• The Girls Travel Program will run from October through January.

• All players will receive a uniform that includes home and away jerseys, shorts and a dri-fit shooting shirt.

• The Fee is $350

Facilities
Many of our games & practices are held at the St. Edwards gym.  Additionally, we also utilize several of the Syosset public schools for the Intramural & Clinic Programs.

Coaches
All coaches are volunteers from our community.  New coaches are always needed & welcomed for teams at all levels.  Coaching is a wonderful way to build relationships with the kids in our community. No prior coaching experience is necessary. Please consider coaching to help keep our program strong.
Coaches are required to complete a Background Check Form & attend Virtus Training.
 
Registration
Registration is online.  Please accurately complete the entire form. (One Form per player)  Please sign the ‘Parental Agreement’ on website and give to your coach when teams are formed. Registrations will not be accepted without this signature.
