BLUFF WINS 2020 ALL STAR GAME

The Bluff Conference defeat the River Conference 104-97 to win the 2020 SBL All Star Game. Deontray Dorsey (POBL) named ASG MVP with 22 points and 5 assists.

Deontray Dorsey (POBL) led the Bluff Conference with 22 points and 5 assists and was named the ASG MVP. Trey Owens (POBL) capped off a great All Star day with 6 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and a block. Tyler Lundeen (Team ACH) added 18 points and was 6 for 10 from behind the arc. Kendall Davis (Crusaders) also had a nice day shooting as he was 6 for 9 shooting 3 and also finished with 18 points. Darian White (Devils) finished with 14 and shot 75% from the field.

 

Jeff White (Tropics) led the River Conference with 23 points and 6 assists. Jerome Harris (Dragons) scored 22 points and added 6 rebounds and 4 assists and shot 62% from the field. Marvin Jordan scored 13 points and also had 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Chris Donnelly (Shredders) had a game high 9 rebounds.

WEST - 43

 

 

The shorthanded longwinded East topped the Hurricane heavy West in the 2020 SBL All Star Legends game Sunday, January 5. Marc Caruso lead the East with a game high 14 points after entering in the second half. Dan Cunningham added 13 points on 7 of 9 from the charity stripe for the East in victory. Brody Utley pulled down 8 boards. Rocky Zeigler had a couple big 3's and Matt Williams chipped in an all around healthy game. Tony Chambers was perfect shooting on the day knocking down his lone 3 pointer.

Cory Cowan was the leading scorer for the West with 12 points. Brian Redington had a solid game with 9 points and 3 rebounds. Brad Gergovich pulled down 6 rebounds and added 5 points.

DUNK CHAMPION

- TREY OWENS (POBL)

 Trey was flying high and soaring through the ASG. Team POBL was on display Sunday as Owens dazzled the league with his ups. Trey's All Star crown was shining through the gym as he sat on his thrown from above the rim as the SBL's king of the slam.

 

SKILLS CHAMPION

- JEROME HARRIS (DRAGONS)

Jerome brought his skills to the ASG working 3 rounds of shooting, passing, and dribbling past 13 other players to take the title of best Skills in the SBL.

 

2 BALL CHAMPIONS

- MATT WILLIAMS & TYLER LUNDEEN (TEAM ACH)

Matt and Tyler teamed up to sharp-shoot their way through the SBL and withstood the Eagles 2 point barrage to capture the crown for accuracy. The echoes of "8" still ring in Lakeview's rafters.

 

3 POINT CHAMPION

- DEONTRAY DORSEY (POBL)

Deontray was workman behind the arc through 3 rounds of the best shooters in the league. He improved his score each round  and knocked off his teammate in the finals to be named the champ of the long ball.

COMPETITIONS ANOUNCED FOR THE SBL ALL STAR SUNDAY

December 17, 2020 – 10:00 PM

 

The 2020 SBL All Star Sunday will feature a whole day full of basketball skill and talent on showcase. The SBL has selected the best of the league to represent the SBL in the 2020 All Star Game. The day will begin at 8:30 AM with qualifying rounds for the 3 Point Contest, 2 Ball Contest, and Skills Competition. Prior to the ASG the league will showcase some SBL history as former players return to competition to play in the SBL Legends game at 11:00 At 12:00 noon the finalist from the morning competitions will face off in the Competition Semifinal and Final Rounds. The All Star Game will tip off at 1:00 PM between the Bluff Conference All Stars and the River Conference All Stars. The All Star Game will feature a Dunk Contest at half time of the game. With the second half closing out the All Star Sunday festivities. The public is welcome to come for the whole day to support the league and enjoy Peoria's basketball talent. Admission is always FREE.

If you are in the league and would like to participate in one of the All Star Competitions there will be a sign up sheet at the scorer's table during Week 6 (12/22) games. You can also contact your team's GM to sign up or email the SBL Front Office for more information about the day's schedule and to sign up. Competition winners along with the All Star Game MVP will each receive gift certificates courtesy of Crusen's. There will also be a post All Star Game party at Crusen's on War Drive following the ASG.
