    Titans Fall 08

    My Memory By Mariah Pendleton

“GO Mariah!!!!”,said mom as she cheered me on in victory.

I remember when I first started playing soccer. I would feel the wind in my face and a smile every time I would score a goal. I started playing this game when I was about 4 years old. I also play basketball, but soccer seems a lot more important in my life. My whole family would come to see me play my best at this sport. I’ve been playing ever since.

“Mariah, me and mom have been talking and we wanted to ask you how you felt about playing with under 14.”,dad explained.

I was a little worried for this offer but I nervously accepted it and took a chance. My whole life has changed since then because I’ve gotten better at everything you could imagine at soccer! My new coach Scott, who I knew basically my whole life is the best coach in the world. You see I moved up a division but Im still in the same organization with AFK (All For Kids) Athletic association. I moved up because I was my teams main scorer and I needed a little less pressure and a lot more challenge.

It is very tough playing with the older girls but it is also fun and challenging at the same time! Im very happy I took the offer. Scott and my parents believe in me because they know I can do it or else they wouldnt have asked me to play up. A lot of my other friends moved up too. Like Madison, Kalyn, Aleah, Kalyee (our goalie) and Mary.

The game of soccer isn’t very hard once you get the hang of it. Like everyone says, practice makes perfect! One day I want to be a pro soccer player and be like Mia Hamm. I usually play Defense, Center Mid,or Forward. There is also Back Sweeper, Stopper, and Goal Keeper. I try my best at what I need to do. And still to this day I feel the wind on my face when I take that shot!
