Religion and Scouting Information - Please Read
Original Publication Date: 10/19/06
Revised on 9/17/09
In addition to the scouts working out of their handbooks, they may also achieve their scouting Religious Emblem for their faith. This is done with the scout and his family. It is not done at a den or pack level. Each Faith has an activiy booklet with the requirements to earn their emblem and you may purchase this at the Scout Shop.
Once the requirements have been completed, inform the religious coordinator (see below). The scouts receive their medals at their religious service.
For Jewish scouts this is on Scout Sabbath which will be sometime in February. For Christian scouts this is on Scout Sunday which is also held sometime February. (check Calendar for exact dates)
For Catholic Scouts in our pack, Scout Sunday is celebrated at the 9:30 mass at St. Kilians.(check Calendar for Date)
Scout Sabbath and Scout Sunday should be attended in full Class A uniform. All scouts attending their service on these days in uniform,(whether you worked on the emblem or not) will receive a patch at the following pack night.
ALL FAITH AWARD
In addition the Theodore Roosevelt Council All Faith Committee has created the All Faith Award. This award can be worked on over the Cub Scouting years...if they have completed the emblem of their Faith and rank - please consider working on this. The award is also presented on Scout Sabbath / Scout Sunday. Please see the "event flyer" on the left menu for the award requirements and application
Our Pack's Religious Coordinator is Pat McDonald (516-293-8783). If you have any questions about any of the above information or any other religious awards, please contact her at the number listed.
