Monday Announcements
November 9, 2009 --
Weekend’s Results -- This past weekend we had 7 boys wrestling – at the Morrison Open, Micah Lugafet shook off a first-round loss to the eventual champion to come back and take 3rd place; Ryan Barclay ran his streak to four Division 3 tournament 1st-place finishes in a row going back to last season and Ryan also placed 3rd in his Division 4 100 lbs double-entry; Sean Obrien finished in 2nd place at Div 5-118 in a 5-man Round Robin. At Blanchard, Kaleb Harris placed 3rd in the Open Division, on the Novice Side Declan Obrien won his first tournament ever with 3 falls in Division 3-100, and JR Kalmeyer placed 3rd in the Open Division 4-80. Gunnar Smith also wrestled in the Open Division 4-73.
Real quick – here are the week’s events –
Practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, 5:30-6:30 for Novice; 6:30-8:00 for entire team.
At Monday’s practice, Open wrestlers interested in going to Cliff Keen Kickoff Classic in Tulsa on 11/20-21 will need to register, as the deadline for me to send in entries is tomorrow.
Tuesday, we will register for the Marlow Open and Marlow Novice tournament which is this weekend (11/14). Don’t ask me why, but for some reason The Marlow Tournament will be held in Lawton this year. Alternate Tournaments are the Team Guthrie Open and the Perry Novice Round Robin. We will have coaches at Marlow; we will not necessarily have coaches at the alternate tournaments. I will talk more about this at practice.
Also, I have singlets in and will be handing AFTER PRACTICE to those out to those who ordered them. The other equipment will take a few weeks to get in.
See you tonight. Robbie

POST-SEASON WRESTLING
Ten youth wrestlers have continued wrestling into the freestyle season. They join approximately 20 middle school and high school wrestlers for practices with Coach Koehler in the evenings. Additionally, since the Open State Tournament in Tulsa, we have had several boys win medals in post-season collegiate or freestyle tournaments.
Most notably, Colton Denney (3rd grader – Rose Union) traveled to Reno Nevada and competed in the Reno World Championships. This tournament, Tulsa Nationals, and Eastern Nationals in Charleston, WV are the three tournaments that make up the “Trinity Award” – awarded to wrestlers who place 1st at all three tournaments – one of the most prestigious awards in youth wrestling.
Unseeded Colton placed 4th at Reno Worlds – he lost 1-0 to the eventual tournament champion in the first round match last Friday night, before fighting his way back through the consolation side winning his next five matches – un-scored on – on Saturday: 10-0, 9-0, 7-0, 4-0, 10-0. The consolation finals were Sunday, where Colton lost; the wrestler who beat him then won a challenge match for 2nd. Furthermore, by his placing at USJOC (3rd), Tulsa Nationals (5th), and the Oklahoma State Tournament (5th) earlier in the season, Colton has earned Oklahoma Youth All-State honors, which I believe is the first time we have had a wrestler receive this distinction.
Colton also placed 1st at the Yukon Freestyle Tournament, and 2nd at Liberty Nationals in Kansas City.
Other wrestlers winning post-season medals are:
Logan Johnson – Kearney (Nebraska) Classic – Logan won the tournament championship in Division 4 (up an age class) in a bracket of approximately 20 kids. Logan also wrestled at the Wichita (KS) Classic, and won 3 matches, losing only to the tournament champion and 3rd place medalist. Logan wrestled in the Liberty Nationals in Kansas City as well.
Tanner Cole – Tanner won 1st at the Yukon Freestyle tournament, and also wrestled at Liberty Nationals in Kansas City.
Jake Denney – Placed 6th at Liberty Nationals in Kansas City.
Ryan Barclay – won 1st place at the Camdenton (Missouri) Open Tournament.

DEER CREEK HIGH SCHOOL -- 5A WEST REGIONAL CHAMPIONS -- congratulations to the high school team for winning the regional team championship!!! I am not sure, but I believe this is the first time since at least 1990 that DC has won the regional! Be sure to go to watch Cade Draper in his quest for his second State Championship and the other 7 DC wrestlers competing for state championships at the State Fairgrounds Arena today and tomorrow --
HIGH SCHOOL BANQUET -- The High school and Middle School Wrestling Banquet is March 4 at 6:30 at Oklahoma Christian University. The youth wrestlers and families are invited as well. If you would like to go, please RSVP to Kelli Haan at 313-5885 or Russell Boyd at 306-6295 and let us know how many to reserve for you. Or reply Kelli at haanfamilyokc@sbcglobal.net
We will have our own Youth Pizza Party in the next few weeks as well -- if any one is interested in helping organize it, please let Robbie know at rwbarclay@aol.com
FREESTYLE -- the sign-up for freestyle will be Friday March 6 from 5:00 - 7:00 at the DCHS Gym lobby. There will not be a practice that night. Cost is $80 which includes the USA Card. If you already have a USA Card, the fee will be adjusted accordingly. I believe Coach Koehler will have a brief demonstration about differences between freestyle and folkstyle wrestling.
Coach Koehler (the DCMS head coach) and Tim Draper (Santa Fe HS Head Coach and former DCMS coach) will be heading this up. Coach Koehler is one of the State Freestyle coaches who heads up the state team for national competition, so we are fortunate to have him heading up freestyle program.
The freestyle program is open to all wrestlers from youth through high school -- it will definitely help with their folkstyle/collegiate wrestling. And if your son is playing baseball, he is welcome to come to freestyle practices when he can.
If your ELEMENTARY aged wrestler is interested, please email Robbie at rwbarclay@aol.com so I can give Coach Koehler an approximate head count on who to expect at sign-up.
MONEY -- a few still owe me money for tournaments -- if you do, you can pay me via Paypal at my account rwbarclay@aol.com. I will contact you in the next week if you owe.

OKWA STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS -- The youth team sent 23 wrestlers to regionals two weekends ago, and placed 20 who qualified for the state tournament. 18 of those who qualified made the trip to Tulsa, and 16 of them won at least one match and made it into the second day of competition. Full State Tournament results:
Jake Denney -- Div 1 46# -- DNP -- Jake placed 5th at regionals, but lost both his matches at state.
Brogan Rutz -- Div 1 46# -- DNP -- Brogan placed 6th at regionals, but lost both matches at state.
Kaleb Harris -- Div 1 49# -- 5th -- Kaleb qualified for state by placing 3rd at regionals. He won four matches at state by scores of 6-4, 9-4 fall, and 6-4, while dropping two close ones 6-2 and 6-0. In his medal round match, Kaleb avenged his regionals loss with a tough 6-4 win.
Jack Hill -- Div 1 52# -- tied 9th -- 1st-year wrestler Jack qualified for state with a 6th place regionals finish, then went on to win 3 matches at state (forfeit, 6-0, 11-0) while losing two close ones (5-2 and 7-3). Jack finished tied for 9th, only 2 wins shy of a medal.
Micah Lugafet -- Div 1 55# -- 3rd -- Micah is now a 2x Regional Champion, and placed 3rd at state. Micah led off hisstate tournament with a 0:34 pin before losing 6-0. He bounced back with 4 straight wins to claim 3rd.
Westlee Powers -- Div 2 58# -- tied 13th -- second-year wrestler Westlee placed 5th at regionals and won 2 matches at the state tournament with pins. Westlee finished tied for 13th.
Colton Denney -- Div 2 64# -- 5th -- Colton was a regional runner-up, and got thru to the state semi-finals with a 10-0 win and a win by fall. Colton lost in the semis, and again in the consolation semis with a tough 4-2 OT loss, before bouncing back in the 5th/6th place match to win 8-2. Colton is also our first Youth All-State team member -- which he earned by placing at each of: OKWA State tournament, Tulsa Nationals, USJOC, and the Youth Championship Series points race.
Tanner Cole -- Div 3 58# -- 3rd -- Tanner finished in 3rd place at regionals and won his first 3 matches at state by 16-0, 7-0, and 4-1 counts to reach the semi-finals. He lost in the semi-finals but came back to win in the consolation semis with a pin. In the consolation finals, Tanner found himself down 2-0 at the end of the second period. The Collinsville opponent, whom Tanner had beaten 4-1 earlier in the day, chose down. With about 0:25 left in the match, the Collinsville kid got an escape. Down 3-0 and with about ):15 seconds left, Tanner countered a shot and put the opponent on his back for a 5-count, to secure an exciting 5-3 win. Tanner then challenged for 2nd but lost -- Tanner finished 3rd in the state, but the only two who finished higher than him were the same kids who finished higher than him at regionals.
Logan Johnson -- Div 3 61# -- tied 7th -- Logan qualified as the regional 3rd placer. Logan won his first match 12-1 before being sent to the consolation side in his second match. Logan battled back with 3 wins in close matches before losing again, just one win away from a medal.
Tyler Cullison -- Div 3 64# -- tied 9th -- Tyler had a late season surge that earned him a 4th place medal at regionals, and started his state tournament run with a pin in his first match. After losing his second match, Tyler rebounded to win by another fall, and a really tough (and strange) 0-0 triple-OT criteria victory where each wrestler rode-out the other the entire match. Tyler finished his day two wins form a medal.
Ryan Barclay -- Div 3 85# -- tied 9th -- Ryan followed his regional runner-up appearance with a pin at state in his first match. He then lost in the quarterfinals by a 4-3 score to the eventual tournament runner-up, and lost in the consolation match to the 3rd-place finisher. Ryan finished 2 wins from a medal.
Brock Ruminer -- Div 3 90# -- tied 7th -- Brock won an exciting regional championship match 11-9 over his Noble nemesis. He came out in his first state match and won by tech fall 18-2 before being sent to the consolation bracket in his next match. Brock bounced back to win 5-0 before being put out of medal contention, a win away from a medal.
Jak McCall -- Div 3 100# -- tied 13th -- Jak finished as the regional runner-up, and entered his first-ever state tournament. He won his second match by a 10-6 score before being put out of the tournament on the second day.
Chad Dunlop -- Div 4 80# -- tied 13th -- Chad won 4th place at regionals and won a match at state before losing out.
Andrew Prescott -- Div 5 78# -- tied 13th -- Andrew was the regional champion, and also won a match at state.
Jonathan Birdsell -- Div 5 102# -- tied 13th -- Jonathan qualified for state as the regional 5th placer -- and also won a match at state.
Chad Draper -- Div 5 118# -- 6th place -- Chad placed 3rd at regionals, and at state he won his first three matches to move through to the semi-finals, where he suffered a knee injury early in the 1st period. He continued in the match but lost 3-1, and then lost again in the consolation semis. Chad injury defaulted his medal round match to finish 6th.
Cameron Simonsen -- Div 5 134# -- Cameron placed 5th at regionals, but lost both matches at state.

20 STATE QUALIFIERS -- Please check the list at the bottom of the email! We had a pretty good day yesterday in qualifying 20 wrestlers for the state tournament by placing at regionals yesterday. Three Champions (Lugafet, Ruminer, Prescott), three runners-up, four third-placers, two fourth-placers, four fifth-placers, and four sixth-placers. Three other boys did not qualify, but wrestled their matches tough. I believe Dylan Pope was a win away from qualifying in a big bracket -- his two losses were to his bracket's eventual champion and the third-placer. Good job by all.
HOTEL FOR STATE -- I have reserved 12 rooms at the Tulsa Airport Ramada. It is approximately 7 miles (not too far) from the state tournament site. We are on a waiting list for a closer hotel, as the ones closer were all booked when we made the reservations. The Ramada is $59+tax, has an indoor pool, some kind of a arcade room, complimentary full hot breakfast -- the drawback is that they have rooms with only either 1 king bed or 2 double beds (no queen size beds).
So far, I have heard from the following people who said they would like a room -- I need to know if any others would like one (or more), or if you are on this list and to cancel, please let me know as well ASAP so I can change the reservation!! Please let me know if you are planning on going to state whether you need a room or not -- just so I know who will be there (I hope all who qualified decide to wrestle!)
Barclay (2), Cole, Denney, Johnson, Lugafet, McCall, Powers, Ruminer, Rutz, Valentine
YOUR WRESTLER'S STATE BRACKET -- to see your son's state tournament bracket, you will have to fill it in yourself -- to do this, go to www.okseries.com -- look through the RESULTS in your son's division for each of the four regions. I have attached two documents to this email -- (1) an Excel spreadsheet that is the bracket form, and (2) the OKWA Regional Pairings.
Then -- look up your son's weight on the OKWA Regional Pairings that I attached and fill in the Excel Spreadsheet's cells with the names for the appropriate regions matching up regions A, B, C, and D with the list for your son's weight form the OKWA Regional Pairings list. You will do this in cells B67-72, F67-72, J67-72, and N67-72 -- the pairings will appear in the bracket automatically. The state tournament pairings are randomly drawn for each weight to come up with diversified brackets as respect to pairings.
DEER CREEK'S OKWA STATE QUALIFIER LIST -- Following are the placers at the Regional Tournament yesterday -- they are the qualifiers for State -- no time to give the full account for each kid, I will try to do so later:

We sent 4 to Novice State as most of our 2nd year kids have begun wrestling in opens -- apparently this was a huge novice tournament -- Coach Kannard said it was tougher than USJNC with over 1000 entrants. Jack Hill -- Div 1 52# -- Jack finished in 4th place with a 5-2 record. He won his first and second matches big, then lost a close 6-4 decision. Jack bounced back with 3 wins in a row before losing in the consolation finals by a point.

WEEKEND RESULTS -- We had some big wins this weekend at the Cushing Open. As a team, we brought back 19 medals, with 3 CHAMPIONS, 5 Runners-up, and 5 Thirds and 6 Fourths. Leading the way were Tanner Cole and Colton Denney -- in the finals matches for their respective weights each of them defeated wrestlers whom they had never beaten before, and Kaleb Harris won the tournament in his first Open tournament ever. Our boys defeated two defending state champions. Our Division 3 kids finished with the second most team points, behind only Cowboy Wrestling Club.
We had one wrestler enter the Lawton Novice tournament -- Jack Hill -- and he won the tournament.
We are now at 199 medals (88 open, 111 novice) for the season, just 16 behind last season's total (80 open, 135 novice).
Lawton Novice --
Division 1 --
Jack Hill -- 52# -- CHAMPION -- Jack wrestled at Lawton's Novice Tournament, and won the tournament in front of his parents' hometown folks.
Cushing Open --
Division 1 --
Jake Denney -- 46# -- Runner-up -- 3-1 -- Jake won thru to the finals with 3 wins, but lost 7-0 to finish in second. (It seemed that Little Jake was really more interested in how his big bro's finals match was going rather than his own as he spent a good portion of his match watching Colton wrestle simultaneously on another mat.)
Kaleb Harris -- 49# -- CHAMPION -- 3-0 -- Kaleb won the tournament with scores of 4-1, 15-3, and a hard-fought 4-0 finals victory.
Micah Lugafet -- 55# -- 3rd Place -- 4-1 -- Micah opened the tournament with a 7-5 OT win then won by a pin in his second match, before losing 6-4 in the semis on a judgement call. He closed out the day with 13-0 and 6-4 wins.
Division 2 --
Westlee Powers -- 58# -- T-5th -- 2-2 -- Westlee lost his first match, but rebounded to win 6-0 and then won big in his third match, before being put out of the tournament with a 1-0 loss when he locked hands.
Colton Denney -- 64# -- CHAMPION -- 3-0 -- Colton Opened the tournament with 4-0 and 6-0 wins to reach the finals. In the finals match, Colton faced his chief adversary. They had met three times previously this season, with Colton losing all three by close, low scoring decisions. This time, Colton fought out a 4-2 win to best his nemesis and win the tournament championship.
Jake Valentine -- 75# -- 4th place -- 2-2 -- Jake wrestled well in his first open tournament to finish the day in 4th place.
Division 3 --
Tanner Cole -- 58# -- CHAMPION -- 4-0 -- OKWA Series Wrestler of the Week! Tanner opened his run to the finals with a pair of pins in his first two matches, then won 4-0 in the semi-finals against a tough wrestler. In the finals, Tanner faced the wrestler he has been stalking all season, having lost three previous decisions, but gaining ground each time. This time, with all of Deer Creek at matside and behind him, Tanner turned the tables in defeating one of our state's most accomplished youth wrestlers by an exciting 7-1 count. For his run through the tournament, Tanner was chosen as the state's OKWA Series Wrestler of the week! A great victory for a great kid.
Logan Johnson -- 64# -- 4th Place -- 2-2 -- Logan won by fall in the first round, and wrestled well despite losing two close matches to close out his Division 3 bracket.
Tyler "Skeeter" Cullison -- 64# -- 3rd Place -- 3-2 -- Skeeter looked to be back in form with a good showing. Although his first round 13-2 victory was followed by a 3-2 setback to the eventual tournament champion, Skeeter fought back through the consolations with a pin and a 14-2 consolation finals win. He lost his challenge match ending the day in 3rd.
Colton Denney -- 67# -- 3rd place -- 4-1 -- Colton double-entered, and his only set-back was in the semi finals to our own Dylan Pope by a 9-5 count. Colton won his Division 3 matches by 3-0, 14-2, 4-2, and 4-2.
Dylan Pope -- 67# -- Runner-up -- 3-1 -- In his first Open tournament this year, Dylan opened with a 14-0 win, followed by a 7-5 victory and a 9-5 win over Colton Denney in the semis. In the finals he went toe-to-toe with a tough kid, only losing 9-3.
Ryan Barclay -- 85# -- Runner-up -- 4-1 -- Ryan scratched out a tough 4-0 first round win, but lost to the eventual tournament champion in the semis by a 5-3 OT count. He bounced back in the consolation side, however, with two first period pins -- the second coming in the consolation finals against the wrestler who defeated him in last year's state finals. Ryan then challenged for 2nd and gutted out a 13-5 win to finish 2nd.
Brock Ruminer -- 90# -- 4th place -- 2-2 -- Brock won a match by fall in going through the tournament and placing 4th.
Patrick Cochlin -- 67#, Preston Seibel -- 80#, and Jak McCall -- 100# all wrestled tough as well.
Division 4 --
Logan Johnson -- 64# -- 2-1 Runner-up -- double-entered and wrestling up an age class, Logan won by 10-0 in the first round. Then in the semis, Logan faced one of the toughest Div 3 kids in his weight who was also wrestling up a division whom Logan had never before beaten. Down 4-3 with just seconds to go, Logan sealed a 5-4 victory with a takedown awarded at the buzzer.
Preston Stockton -- 110# -- 3rd Place
Alex Cullison -- 120# -- 3rd place
Division 5 --
Andrew Prescott -- 78# -- 4th place -- Andrew had to injury default his last two matches.
Kooper Ruminer -- 134# -- 4th place
Ryan Holifield -- 86# -- 2nd, 94# -- 4th place

Micah Lugafet -- Div 1 55# -- 3-0, 1st place -- in his first two matches, Micah spent a total of 0:18 on the mat in winning both with pins (0:10 and 0:08 if you're scoring at home), then won a tough match 6-2 in the finals to win 1st place.
Tanner Cole -- Div 3 58/61# -- 2-0, 58# 1st, 61# 1st -- Tanner was the only entry for 58# and was bumped to the 61# bracket. Mustang Open & Guthrie Novice Results
January 11, 2009 --
9 medals for the weekend, 161 for the year.
Open -- we had 19 entries in the Mustang Open tournament and seven medallists -- 3 runners-up, and 4 fourth-place finishers. Next year, we intend to bring home several of those 4-foot tall Champion trophies Mustang is known for awarding.
Micah Lugafet -- Div 1 55# -- Micah made it to the finals with 3 pins, but lost his finals match to claim 2nd place, 3-1 for the day.
Tanner Cole -- Div 3 58# -- Tanner reached the semi-finals, where he lost 4-0 to his chief rival from Edmond Generals. Each week, Tanner keeps closing the gap on him; it's just a matter of time before he closes the deal. Tanner ended up fourth in the tournament with a 2-2 record.
Ryan Barclay -- Div 3 85# -- Ryan wrestled well this weekend in reaching the semi-finals with a pin in his first match and by avenging a re-match of his state finals match with a comeback 5-3 OT win. After losing a tough semi-finals match 7-4, he bounced back with a pin to reach the consolation finals, where he couldn't manage a last second takedown and lost 7-5. Ryan was 3-2 on the day.
Brock Ruminer -- Div 3-90# -- Brock always gives great effort, but Saturday he wrestled about as well technically as I have ever seen him wrestle in his first two matches to reach the semifinals -- first match was by pin. Brock's second match was against the USJOC 6th-place winner and the kid who pinned Brock at Carl Albert and at USJOC last week. This time, however, Brock absolutely dismantled the kid, winning 12-2 and relying on skills, rather than only his strength, to do it. Brock lost his finals match to finish in 2nd place, and 2-1 for the day.
Jak McCall -- Div 3-100# -- Jak continues to improve in winning a match before being losing 7-0 to finish 1-2 on the day.
Colton Denney -- Div 2 64# -- Colton reached the finals with 3 victories, where he faced his nemesis from Choctaw. Down 2-1 with seconds to go and needing an escape to tie or reversal to win, Colton turned in to his opponent and fell just short of breaking free, losing 2-1. Had he hit the move a couple seconds earlier, he would have one of the big trophies. But Colton keeps chipping away at this familiar opponent, getting closer every time.
Colton Denney -- Div 3 64# -- Colton also won a match and finished 1-2 in his double-entry division.
Jak Denney -- Div 1 46# -- Jak won a match before losing to two of the best kids around to finish 1-2 for the day.
Kooper Ruminer -- Div 5-134# -- first-year middle school wrestler Kooper had a strong run in the tournament, finishing 3-2 on the day in taking home the 4th place medal.
Andrew Prescott -- Div 5-78# -- Andrew finished in 4th place.
Tyler Follis -- Div 5 HWT -- second-year wrestler Tyler Follis reached the finals with two wins. His finals match was a grinding, back and forth match, where Tyler had to have an escape to tie and send into overtime. Down 4-3, Tyler got free, sending the match to the 1-minute sudden victory period. In the OT period, Tyler managed to get behind his opponent while both were on their feet, and with hands locked around the waist needed to take the opponent back to the mat to secure the takedown and the win. But Tyler tripped the opponent the wrong direction and gave up a tough two points and lost the match. He will not make the same mistake again. Tyler finished 3-1 for the day with his runner-up finish.
Jonathan Birdsell -- Div 5 102# -- Jonathan won a match and finished 1-2 for the day.
Jake Bradbury -- Div 5-110# -- Jake also won a match and finished 1-2 for the day.
Chad Dunlop -- Div 4 80# -- Chad reached the semifinals with two victories before losing his final two to go 2-2.
Logan Johnson -- Div 4 64# -- Logan double-entered and won a match before losing his last two, finishing 1-2 on the day in Division 4.
Tyler Cullison, Patrick Cochlin, and Logan Johnson all finished 0-2 for the day in Division 3, and Alex Cullison wrestled in Division 4.
Novice -- due to the last-minute scheduling of the Guthrie novice tournament, we had only two kids wrestle in the novice ranks this weekend, and both won medals -- a 2nd and a 3rd.
Landon Willis - Division 4 92# -- Landon lost his first match, but went on to win his 2nd and 3rd matches both with pins. He ended up 3rd for the tournament and came home with a trophy, and he was pretty excited.
Jack Hill -- Div 1 52# -- Jack Hill traveled to Dallas for a tournament this weekend and placed second. He lost his first match, but then bounced back in the consolation side to win two straight, and was allowed to challenge for second place and won the match.

Perry Novice and McLoud Open Results
November 18, 2008 --
27 medals won by Deer Creek wrestlers on the day at McLoud and Perry -- 44 medals total for the season thus far --
McLoud Open -- We sent 6 Open wrestlers to McLoud with Logan Johnson double-entered, and we returned to The Creek with 9 medals -- 6 firsts, 1 second, and 2 thirds, and a 19-3 overall team tournament record.
Micah Lugafet -- Micah entered the tournament as a Div 1 55# wrestler, but was paired with each of the tournament's only 55#, 60# and 66# entries in a 4-man round-robin to wrestle for the 55, 60 and 66 medals. Micah swept all three matches, winning by pin at 55# and 60#, and 6-4 against the 66# wrestler with a reversal with less than 2 seconds remaining in regulation. Good thing there wasn't a Heavyweight wrestler at Division 1 or Micah would've stomped him, too! Thus, Micah brought home 3 first-place medals.
Carson Savage -- Division 2 75# -- Carson won both his matches on a sore knee in a 3-man round-robin, winning 15-8 and by fall, to place 1st in his bracket.
Tanner Cole -- Division 3 58# -- Tanner went 3-1 on the day winning with 2 pins. His only loss came in the semifinals by a hard-fought 6-3 score, and he brought back the 3rd place medal.
Tyler Cullison -- Division 3 61# -- Tyler swept three matches, winning 7-2 in his first match, then by falls in the semis and finals to earn the Champion's medal.
Ryan Barclay -- Division 3 85# -- Not wrestling his first match after 3:00, Ryan won his first match by fall, then was caught in a headlock (dad-gum headlocks!) after leading 4-0 in the semifinals. He bounced back and pinned both his consolation opponents within 30 minutes of the semifinal loss to earn 3rd place.
Logan Johnson -- Division 3 64, Division 4 67 -- I do not usually pick an "Outstanding Wrestler" from our team for the weekend -- but if I did, I would choose Logan for today (although, admittedly Lugafet, Cullison and Savage would be close 2nd). Logan had a lot of success last season, but never won a tournament championship. He was double-entered at McLoud Saturday, and won his first tournament championship by winning in the DIVISION 4 bracket -- wrestling kids 2-3 years older than him. In Logan's Division 4 finals match, Logan got put on his back with a 5 point move in the 1st period, thus down 5-0 to begin the 2nd period. Clawing his way back in the 2nd to tie the score at 5-5, Logan chose the down position to start the 3rd period. He got an escape late in the 3rd period to earn the victory. Coming back from a 5-0 deficit to win in the older division finals was BIG TIME. Then, Logan won each of his first two Division 3 matches by fall and 7-0 before losing in the Division 3 finals. Wrestling his best, most aggressive tournament, Logan finished his day with a 5-1 record, and 1st and 2nd place medals.
Perry Novice/Intermediate Round-Robins -- we had 18 weigh in at Perry and won 18 medals, with 6 Champions, 6 runners-up, and 6 Thirds.
"B" Brackets:
Zane Hobbs -- Div 1 52# -- in his first tournament ever, Zane went 4-0 for the day and capping this run with a 11-1 finals win to place 1st.
Ty Hammack -- Div 1 60# -- went 2-2 on the day to finish 3rd -- first ever tournament.
Carson Cooper -- Div 1 66# -- possibly our most dominant wrestler on the day, Carson finished 4-0 with 4 1st period pins.
Hunter Males -- Div 2 58# -- the "Danish Destroyer" posted a record of 3-2 to place 3rd in his first tournament.
Nate White -- Div 3 85# -- having only practiced for one week, Nate wrestled hard for all 3 matches and never quit -- first tournament.
Colton Casteel -- Div 2 55# -- won 1st place in his bracket with a 2-0 record in his first tournament.
Peyton Seibel -- Div 2 75# -- won a match in his first-ever tournament.
Matthew Jennings -- Div 3 80# -- finished in 2nd with a 2-2 record in his first tournament.
Turner Hammack -- Div 3 76# -- placed 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd in 3 brackets in his first tournament.
Preston Seibel -- Div 3 80# -- was 2-2 for the day in winning one bracket and placing 3rd in another -- first ever tournament.
Declan O'Brien -- Div 3 85# -- wrestled tough in three matches and never gave up in his first tournament.
Robbie Chapa -- Div 1 66# -- posted a 3-1 record in placing 2nd.
"A" Brackets:
Kole Kelly -- Div 2 83# -- finished 3rd.
Jake Valentine -- Div 2 75# -- won 4 of 5 tough matches to claim 2nd place.
Westlee Powers -- Div 2 58# -- won all 5 matches -- got a takedown with 15 seconds left to force OT where he won the tournament championship.
Jake McCall -- Div 3 100# -- wrestled 7 matches in two brackets, finishing 2nd in one, and posting a 3-4 record.
Dylan Pope -- Div 3 67# -- another dominant performance winning all 3 matches by fall with the head-inside cradle.
John D Kannard -- Div 3 70# -- turned in a 3-1 record to place 2nd -- was down 4-2 and was on his way to turning the last opponent when time ran out.

Novice
Jake Denney -- Div 1 46# -- won a match, and lost in the consolation round in likely the most exciting match of the tournament in triple overtime -- Jake was on top entering the final overtime and would have to ride out his opponent for the final :30 seconds to earn the win -- unfortunately the opponent got an escape with :01 remaining to earn the win.
Robbie Chapa -- Div 1 60# -- Robbie won his first tournament ever in winning 3 matches with a 12-8 hard-fought Finals win.

DC Youth Wrestling -- OKWA State Tournament Results
February 18, 2008 --
"Once you've watched your son wrestle, everything else is easy." -- Anonymous
END OF SEASON PIZZA PARTY --
All kids who came out for the wrestling team and their families will be invited to the season-end awards and pizza party -- we are working on the details for a time and place, but will let you know the details in a separate email.
OKWA STATE TOURNAMENT RESULTS --
Congratulations to the following six DC Youth Wrestling Team members who ended the season by placing at OKWA State this weekend (complete results follow) -- we had multiple other wrestlers finish just a match or two away from placing:
Carson Savage -- Div I 66# -- 3rd
Ryan Barclay -- Div II 75# -- 2nd
Amani Richardson -- Div IV 88# -- 3rd
Hop Hoang -- Div IV 160# -- 3rd
Nolan Boyd -- Div V 134# -- 4th
Clint Edgeman -- Div V 165# -- 6th
Also -- the DC High School team placed 3rd at Regionals this weekend, sending five wrestlers to the state tournament at the Fairgrounds next weekend. Earlier this season the HS team qualified for Dual State which was last weekend.
Our Youth Team's complete OKWA Tournament Results follow -- state brackets consist of the top 6 wrestlers from each of the 4 regionals -- a total of 24 wrestlers per bracket. Each Regional Champion and Runner-up receive an automatic first-round bye at state.
Micah Lugafet -- Div I 46# -- a second-year novice, Micah came into the tournament as the #1 seed form the Central Regional. After his first-round bye, Micah won his second-round match, placing him in the quarterfinals. Micah lost his next two matches to tie for 9th and end a great season, especially considering he is a second-year novice. Micah will be at the top of his age division next year when he enters a full season on the Open circuit -- we can expect big things from Micah next season.
Savion Richardson -- Div I 46# -- Savion came in as the #5 seed from our regional, and won 3 matches all by fall before losing an overtime match 6-4 to end the season a match out of the medal round in a tie for 7th place. Savion and his family will be moving out of state following the school year, and we will miss him greatly. Those Iowa farm boys better watch out, 'cause little Savie is going to bring it!
Carson Savage -- Div I -- 66# -- 3rd PLACE -- second-year novice Carson was the Central Regional's #2 seed, and made a run to the finals by winning three matches by scores of 6-1, 7-3, and 8-2. He lost 6-2 in the finals -- Carson was down 4-2 with just seconds to go late in the match and tried a desperation takedown move that was countered by his opponent at the buzzer for the final 2 points. Carson then lost the challenge match to finish in 3rd place.
Tanner Cole -- Div II 55# -- second-year novice Tanner came in as the #2 Regional qualifier, earning a 1st round bye. Ahead in his second round match 11-5 entering the third period, Tanner was caught in a cradle twice in the 3rd period to lose 12-11. He bounced back to win his next two matches by fall and 4-0, before losing 4-1 to end the season, just two wins from a medal, tied for 9th place.
Logan Johnson -- Div II 55# -- second-year novice Logan was the regional #4 seed, and won his 1st round match 2-1 before putting up a strong fight to the eventual tournament champion in the second round. Logan came back to win a match by fall on the consolation side before finishing with a 5-0 loss to tie for 13th.
Colton Denney -- Div II 58# -- Entering the state tournament as the Central Regional #2 seed, second-year novice Colton finished just one win short of the medal round at State. After suffering a second-round loss where he was ahead 2-0 and controlling the match but was caught in a cradle and pinned, Colton came back with three consecutive wins by scores of 4-0, 2-0, and 6-4 in OT. Colton lost his last match of the tournament in double OT, 6-4 to end a great late season run, tying for 7th place. Colton will enter the Open circuit at the top of his age division next season.
Tyler Cullison -- Div II 58# -- as the Central #3 seed and also a second-year novice, Tyler won his opening round match. Following a loss in the second round, Tyler came back with two consecutive wins, before being put out of the tournament by a 5-4 loss, just 2 wins shy of a medal and tied for 9th place.
Ian Brown -- Div II 61# -- the Central Regional 3rd seed, Ian won his opening match before losing in the 2nd round. Following a consolation round forfeit, Ian finished his run with a loss on the tournament's second day, tied for 13th.
Ryan Barclay -- Div II 75# -- 2nd PLACE -- as the Central Regional's #1 seed, Ryan received a first round bye. He won in the second round by a pin, then avenged an early season loss with a 5-2 victory in the quarterfinals over a tough #3 seed. In the semifinals, Ryan came through with a late 3rd period takedown to grind-out a 6-2 win against the NE Regional Champion who had lost just twice during the season, setting up a finals match against a Cowboy Wrestling Club wrestler with whom he had split two matches during the season. After falling behind 4-1 during the first period, Ryan rallied to close to within 5-4 on an escape with 30 seconds left in the match. Time ran out with Ryan in on a double-leg attempt, to end a strong season-ending run, and a runner-up finish at State.
JJ Valentine -- Div II HWT -- a first-year novice wrestler, JJ also had an incredibly impressive run in the State tournament. Entering as the Central regional #3 seed, he won his first round match with a pin. In the second match against a #2 seed, JJ was down 10-0 entering the 3rd period, twice fighting off his back. To start the 3rd period, JJ decided he had had enough and went on the offensive, persistently attacking, keeping his opponent on his heels, eventually taking him down and to his back, earning a pin -- a BIG-TIME comeback, as JJ never quit fighting. JJ then lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual State Champion, once fighting off his back despite giving up 70-80 pounds. He then won again by pin in the consolation side, before losing his next match, finishing just one match shy of the medal round, in a tie for 7th place. A great state tournament run for anyone, even more so for a 1st-year novice wrestler.
Brennan Smith -- Div III 64# -- Our "Iron-man" on the team by wrestling 64 open matches this season in tournaments every weekend but one -- yet making up for that lone Saturday off by once wrestling two tournaments on a Friday and Saturday in the same weekend -- Brennan wrestled two tough matches at state, losing 6-4 in his second match. The only 5th grader in our room, Brennan provided outstanding leadership to the younger wrestlers throughout the season with his energy, enthusiasm, and great attitude and work ethic. We can expect great things from Brennan in the coming years as he moves into middle school.
Amani Richardson -- Div IV 88# -- 3rd PLACE -- as the Central Regional Champion, Amani earned a first round bye -- he then won two matches to reach the semifinals to wrestle another #1 seed -- Amani lost that match 4-2, but came back to win in the consolation semifinals then in the consolation finals 9-5 to claim 3rd place at State. Unfortunately for Deer Creek Wrestling, Amani will also be moving to Iowa with Savion and their family following the school year. Other than Ryan, I have been around Amani probably more than any wrestler on the team during the last three years, as last year it was just Amani and Ryan competing at most of the open tournaments. The thing I will remember most about Amani is how when you see him immediately after a match, if you didn't already know the score you can never tell whether he won or lost -- he always comes off the mat the same way, never getting too high or too low. I will miss Amani's quiet, unflappable confidence and his politeness. The most consistent sixth grader in terms of attending the youth practices and tournaments, Amani is another leader on the team, in such a quiet, confident manner. Oh yeah -- hey Amani -- don't forget to pack your wrestling shoes for the move to Iowa! (LOL) And to parents Steve and Steph -- thank you for your constant support, encouragement, and friendship and thank you for the gift of allowing us to coach your two great sons these last few years; I will miss you both as well.
Jake Meyer -- Div IV 88# -- Jake entered the tournament as the #3 seed from our regional, and won his first two matches before losing to a #1 seed in the quarterfinals. Jake came back to win 6-2 in the consolation side, before ending the season with a loss to finish tied for 7th, one win away from a medal.
Hop Hoang -- Div IV 160# -- 3rd PLACE -- Hop is a first year wrestler on the middle school team who has been working out with us the last two weeks in preparation of regionals and State. Hop finished 3rd at regionals last week, losing to the regional champion in 3OT. This week, Hop stormed to the State semifinals with three pins against other regionals' #6, #2, and #1 seeds to earn a shot at avenging the regional loss. Again, Hop pushed the opponent to the limit but couldn't overcome the opponent's defensive stalling tactics and again lost in 2OT. Hop came back to win his two consolation matches to claim 3rd place.
Nolan Boyd -- Div V 134# -- 4th PLACE -- Nolan followed up his 3rd place finish at JH state with a 4th place finish at OKWA State.
Clint Edgeman -- Div V 165# -- 6th PLACE -- Clint reached the semifinals before eventually finishing in 6th place.
I was not able to keep up with most of the older kids' specific matches -- but the following wrestlers also won several matches --
Andrew Prescott -- Div 4 70#, Chad Dunlop -- Div 4 76#, Tim Hicks -- Div 5 94#, and Chad Draper -- Div 5 102# -- each won at least one match at State.
Raymond Prescott -- Div 5 110# -- won two matches.

23 going to OKWA State -- Regional Results for DC Youth Wrestlers
February 11, 2008 --
Team Accomplishments --
The boys have now won 208 total medals for the season (they won 40 medals two seasons ago, and 85 last year).
Of the 26 DC boys we took to regionals (Divisions 1 through 5), 15 had two years experience or less and have wrestled solely primarily novice tournaments the last two seasons up until this weekend. Of the 26 we took to regionals, 23 placed and are going to the State tournament. And we put 9 in the finals, with 5 REGIONAL CHAMPIONS.
The Division 2 boys (7 and 8 year olds) won the 2nd-place team trophy with just 8 wrestlers entered, finishing after only the Edmond Generals who took 13 wrestlers. Westmoore was 3rd place. And we did this with 5 second-year novice wrestlers and one first year novice wrestler to go with our 2 open wrestlers. Six of our boys in Division 2 who were unseeded placed in their bracket, with the two seeded wrestlers finishing higher than their seed.
Also, our Division 1 boys (4, 5, 6 year-olds) finished tied for 5th, just 5 points out of a team trophy -- and we only entered three wrestlers in Division 1. Our Division 4 boys finished tied for 5th as a team, and Division 5 finished 4th.
In total points across all Divisions 1 through 5, we finished 6th, and we qualified the 5th most wrestlers to the state tournament of the more than 24 or so Central Regional teams.

Choctaw Novice State Team Champions!!!; Pictures; Remaining Tournaments
January 21, 2008 --
WE ARE NOVICE DIVISION 1 AND DIVISION 2 CHOCTAW NOVICE STATE TEAM CHAMPIONS!!!
The Novice wrestlers won the team trophies at Choctaw this past weekend for BOTH Division 1 and Division 2. (Hurricane won Div 3, Blackwell Div 4 and Ironman Div 5). This is a big time accomplishment, as the Choctaw tournament is still recognized as one of the two state novice tournaments. I am still trying to contact Choctaw to see where to pick up the team trophies. Great job!!!
PICTURES BEFORE PRACTICE TUESDAY AT 6:00
Pictures tomorrow at practice -- please be there -- we will take individual pictures first, followed by the team picture. We would like to get this over as quickly as possible so we can continue with practice. Wrestlers need to wear their DC singlet, if you have one, or the "Fear the Deer" shirt if they do not have a singlet. Coaches (and this team defines its coaches as those who have been on the mat in a wrestler's corner at least once this year) need to wear your Fear the Deer shirt. Please keep all kid's shorts, etc. black or royal blue for the picture.
BRING YOUR MEDALS AND AWARDS WON THIS SEASON -- we may try to find a way to get them in the team picture.
PLANS FOR THE LAST 4 WEEKS OF THE SEASON
There hasn't been too much interest in going to all the way Catoosa February 2. If you want to go to Catoosa, we can still get you registered, but neither Chad, Nathan nor I will likely be going.
Instead, the plan is for the 2nd-year novice wrestlers who want to aim for OKWA Open Regionals this year to finish up the season going to the last few open tournaments.
This weekend is YMCA Open State in Cushing -- it is a state tournament, but not the big OKWA state tournament at the end of the year. We will register for Cushing tomorrow at practice -- $15.
Next weekend (2/2) is either Crescent or Little Axe (not sure which we will go to, probably Crescent), followed by Open Regionals at Westmoore on 2/9, and Open State for Regional placers at the Fairgrounds on 2/15-2/16.
I may be able to get the Open kids seeded at Open Regionals, depending on their bracket, as well as some of the Division 1, 2nd-year novice kids -- I will need a list of the kids your son has wrestled, your son's W/L records, and tournament results. Contact me if you have any questions about this process.

The dual with the Guthrie youth team is set for 5:00 Tuesday January 15 before the JH match -- the HS homecoming ceremonies will be that night as well.
Unfortunately, not everyone who replies as interested is going to be able to wrestle that night -- it all depends on the best match-ups we can get with the Guthrie team as far as kids with similar age/weight/experience levels. Both Guthrie and we are interested in providing the most even matches that we can arrange.
However, we WILL be announcing ALL our youth wrestlers after the youth matches -- we will wear our medals from this season and be introduced to walk out on the mat in front of the crowd. We will wear our Deer Creek sweats or team t-shirts, etc. Please keep it all blue and black.
Right now I only have the following listed as those interested in competing -- Ryan Barclay, Tanner Brown, Patrick Cochlin, Tanner Cole, Tyler Cullison, Logan Johnson, Micah Lugafet, Marshall Massad, Brock Ruminer, and Carson Savage.
If your son is not on this list and you want him to be, let me know ASAP -- we are trying to get the matches set up -- thanks!
USJOC/USJNC Results
We had a great time this weekend at the "Big House" -- the Fairgrounds Arena --
Two years ago, we took 10 kids to this tournament -- all in the novice bracket -- and had 6 medallists with only one finalist. Last year, we took 33 (30 novice and 3 open) and had 11 medallist with only one finalist and one Champion.
This year we took 29 wrestlers (21 novice, 8 open) who brought back 19 medals with 9 finalists and 6 CHAMPIONS. Definitely the toughest tournament of the season thus far -- and we have now taken the season's medal count to 127! Great job all of you!
This year's highlights -- Westlee Powers (1-52#) avenged 3 earlier losses to his finalist opponent and won a tournament for the second time; Carson Savage (1-66#) continued to bull-doze his way through the competition in winning 1st again; Deer Creek wrestlers swept 1st, 2nd and 3rd at 2-55# with the Three-Musketeers of Tyler Cullison, Logan Johnson, and Tanner Cole; Andrew Prescott and Jake Meyer both won CHAMPIONSHIPS in Division 4; and Brandon Wackerly turned in what was possibly the most dominating performance as the 1st-year, Division 4 heavyweight stomped mud-holes in his opponents with three first-period pins in less than two-minutes total to become a CHAMPION.

USJOC/USJNC Weigh-in; Harrah results; Possible "Dual" with Guthrie Youth team
January 2, 2008 --
USJOC/USJNC Info --
Weigh-in will be from 6:00 to 10:00 in the lobby of the Fairgrounds Arena Thursday night. (I-44 and 10th street)
We will have a short practice for all who want to come and for those who need to break a sweat to get to weight Thursday night from approximately 5:45 to around 7:00. (The high school has a dual beginning at 5:00, so if you need to come even earlier to get a sweat going on your own, the room should be open. I will not be there before 5:45 -- just stay out of the way of the JH/HS Teams.) We will break practice around 7:00 and head to the Fairgrounds for weigh-in.
If you are certain your son will make weight, you can go weigh-in at the Fairgrounds any time you want between 6:00 and 10:00.
Two things to remember --
First -- YOUR SON MUST WEAR A SINGLET TO WEIGH-IN -- just like any other tournament. Nails trimmed, etc. If he doesn't have a singlet on, they won't let him weigh.
Second -- the OPEN KIDS MUST HAVE THEIR USA WRESTLING CARD. The USA cards will be on sale at the Fairgrounds Arena if you do not have one already. No card, no weigh-in for the OPEN kids.
Usually they will have brackets will be on sale at the Fairgrounds Thursday night so you can get one early.
The "Opening Ceremonies" where the kids get to run out of the tunnel will be at 12:00 on Friday and wrestling will begin at 1:00 -- so you will need to call the school and let them know your son will miss school Friday.
Look for the "Deer Creek Wrestling" sign as we will try to sit together. Wrestling will be on approximately 20-24 mats on the arena floor. Novice mats will be down one side of the arena, Open mats will be down the other.
Sometime Friday evening (around 5:00 or 6:00) they will make an announcement to let everyone know which match they will wrestle through Friday night -- for example, they might announce, "We will wrestle through match 90 on all mats." Thus, if your son is match 91 or higher, he can go home -- anything 90 or less, you will need to stay until your son's match is wrestled.
Saturday wrestling begins at 9:00 and will wrestle all the way through the semi-finals matches. The finals will begin at 6:00.

Possible Dual with Guthrie --
We are working on setting up a possible dual match with Guthrie's youth team the night of the JH/HS Dual at our gym with Guthrie on January 15. Still working on the details and seeking approval from the AD, but we are looking at having 7-12 matches or so of kids of similar age, weight, experience. We will also try to announce ALL of the Youth wrestlers between the JH and HS duals, where ALL of our kids can wear their medals and step out on the mat to be recognized by the crowd. We will also try to do the same thing at Guthrie next year.
Both we and Guthrie are most interested in having an event where the kids can have some fun and use it as a tool to stir some interest in wrestling amongst the elementary kids.
If you are interested in having your son wrestle that night, please let me know. We can not guarantee a match for him as it depends on who we can match him up with from the Guthrie team.

November 18, 2007 --
Singlet and wrestling shoes -- $80
Club registration -- $50

Watching your son achieve a hard-earned wrestling medal for the first time -- priceless.

We had 13 Tournament Champions, 5 Second-placers, 3 Third-placers, and 2 Fourth-places!
KINGFISHER OPEN -- We took 5 boys to Kingfisher and brought home 6 GOLDS and 1 SILVER!!! (A couple of boys wrestled two brackets). They compiled a total record of 13-1 with 10 wins by fall. And our boys were only scored on in three matches.
-- Savion Richardson Div 1 46 lbs -- 1st place -- 3-0 -- Savion had a 6-second pin in his first match. And in the finals Savion was down 3-1 going into the final period and got a 3-point near-fall in the last 15 seconds to win the GOLD.
-- Ryan Barclay -- Div 2 75 and 83 lbs -- Ryan won the GOLD with a 1st period fall at his 75 lb weight, then bumped up to 83 lbs, winning by fall in the semis and 6-0 in the finals to win his second GOLD of the day.

EL RENO NOVICE -- we finished with 15 medals out of 19 entries -- six Champions, four 2nd, three 3rd, 2 4th. Where to begin? How about with the tournament's Division 1 OUTSTANDING WRESTLER -- Charlie Haddock:
-- Charlie Haddock Div 1 49 -- 1st -- young Charlie decided he had better things to do than spend a bunch of time on the mat -- so he promptly pinned all 4 of his opponents in the first period!!! Charlie was voted the Outstanding Wrestler for Division 1 after wining his first medal ever!
-- Jake Denney Div 1 40 -- 4th place with a 4-3 record (especially impressive considering that he wrestled three extra matches due to tournament bracketing errors)

Outstanding Results from Saturday's Tournaments
November 10, 2007 --
An impressive start to the wrestling season this weekend! We had eight wrestlers kick off the season this weekend -- compiling an overall record of 21 wins and 6 losses and bringing home 7 medals! Everyone should compete next weekend -- Novice at OCU and Open at Kingfisher -- registration will be Tuesday at practice.
NOVICE RESULTS -- Coach Nathan called me from Blackwell at the tournament's conclusion and the first words out of his mouth were "5 for 5!!!" He had some FIRED-UP kids (and parents) on his hands -- lots of chest-bumping and jumping around, and what sounded like an overall GREAT TIME. The five second-year novice boys who competed in Blackwell were an absolute wrecking crew:
Logan Johnson -- Div 2 55 lbs -- 3rd place (4-1 record) -- in a 10-man bracket, Logan lost to the eventual tournament champion in the first round, then came back through the consolation bracket with 4 straight victories, 3 by pin and a 10-2 decision mixed in.
At Division 2 58 lbs we had three entries in an 8-man bracket -- and we swept 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place!
Tyler Cullison was the Champion at Div 2 58 lbs (3-0), winning his first match 6-0, then winning 4-0 in the semis, and defeating teammate Tanner Cole in the Finals.
Tanner Cole, also at 58 lbs.(2-1), won his first two matches, one by pin, and lost in the finals to Tyler. Tanner hit the front-headlock roll-thru move that Coach Chad taught this week.
Colton Denney took 3rd place at 58 lbs.(3-1) by winning his first match, then suffering his only loss to Tyler in the semi-finals, and eventually winning 2 straight consolation matches to take 3rd place.
Tanner Brown -- Division 2 75 lbs (3-1) -- Tanner lost in the first round to the eventual champion, but he was ahead in the match in the second period by a score of 4-0 but got too high riding his opponent, got caught, and pinned. Tanner then came back and won three straight -- ALL BY PINS -- to take 3rd place. TANNER -- YOU WILL BEAT THAT KID NEXT TIME!!!
These were the first medals ever won by Logan, Tanner Brown and Tanner Cole. Awesome that the 5 boys finished 15-4 with all losses coming to the eventual tournament champions, and two of the losses coming in DC vs DC matches!
OPEN RESULTS -- in Stillwater, we had three boys compete and all had a chance to meet John Smith -- one of the world's greatest wrestlers of all time. Results were --
